Razer's THX-certified 2.1 Mako speaker system reviewed
Remember that 2.1-channel speaker system you saw from Razer, what, two years ago? No, wait -- that was this year. All kidding aside, the Mako is finally getting ready to ship to US customers (and parts of Europe in the future), but Engadget HD managed to round up a set before it even has a chance to grace store shelves. 2.1 channel THX certified? Why? Thats like, buying the surround sound, without the surround. I realize this is pretty much the pinnacle of stereo sound, but unless you are that space challenged, this is not that big of deal.
Can't believe the THX certification has sunk so low as to certify 2.1 either, soon they'll certify $9.- plastic audio from china I expect.
Cool, new gear for curling! O Canada...
Wow, $400? Does this thing vacuum for you, too? I think you'd be better off getting Klipsch ProMedia speakers if you're in the market for a 2.1 system.
I think they double as seats.
On second thought though, they don't have backrests.
THX isn't what it used to be. When you set this up do they send around a THX inspector to make sure your room is reflecting the audio correctly?
THX used to be a set of components, standards and guidelines for optimum audio and video recreation. Now it's just some cool looking letters that can be stuck on almost anything.
Yes, i'm sure these speakers will make my room which is not THX certified sound just like the mix sounded at the Ranch. Wow, imagin what it would sound like if I built up a THX certified room! I mean, that would sound waaaaay more better then my 8k definitive surround system.
I think THX no longer means accurate reproduction of the mixing suite, and now means a closed system where you are balled and act like sheep.
Excuse me, i need to steel that jet car and get the hell out of here.
Shinra's buying it.
You beat me!
