Apple intros 2GB iPod shuffle for $69
It's turning into quite the day for shuffle aficionados. Apple just slash the price on its 1GB iPod shuffle this AM to a very palatable $49, and now the company is pushing a brand new 2GB version out the door for $69. The color selections will be the same as little brother, including a (PRODUCT) RED version. It'll be available later this month.

Apple really seems to be on the ball...
Are you fucking serious??? We've had 2gb players of this size since forever!
Japan is still at ¥9,800 for the 1GB, which translates to about $91.50
Stink!
Huh? why did they announce the 2 GB model today when they plan to sell it at later time? I mean, I could understand if it is a Mac or OS X that they plan to release, but this is just a shuffle.
Well, they had already decided that they were going to lower the price on the 1GB model. I'm sure they felt they'd have a mini-iPhone price drop outrage if everyone went out and bought the 1 GB model only to find that a better model arrived a few weeks later. Now at least people have a choice in how they want to waste their cash.
was a 2Gb namesake ipod the big announcement or is apple gonna throw more at the public.
Sansa Clip all the way baby! My few friends with shuffles all feel like goofy social-wanna-fit-ins. If the shuffle dropped to $25, I seriously would still not buy one. No screen, no FM, no voice recording. Please. I don't have a giant Nike Swoosh sticker in the rear window of my car either.
I know like 4 people who bought the Sansa Clip over an iPod shuffle ...
Just a reminder ... Life is NOT random.
When will we see
"Sony BRAVIX X400 remote now in BLACK"
on engadget?
But at least we see
shuffle now goes 2GB.......
I have to say 1GB is enough so its news of that price slash but 2GB, if it had some sort of even crappy screen to navigate would be good, ive only got about 40-50 songs on my shuffle for the gym. I would put more on if i could navigate. The only means if navigation i have devised is double clicking the play button goes back to the start, then i work backwards for a different type of music and normal forwards for another type if it makes sense, that or just constant skipping. Ive got my good ol 30gb video for other times.
Priced ridiculously yet a million people will buy one cause it's so damn pretty. AWwWwWw... iz so quooot.
Like it or not. Worthwhile or not. Apple is probably going to sell them like crazy for Valentine's Day gifts.
What? Belated gift? or for 2009?
boo... sansa clip is better
Can we quit laying out all the features that ipods don't have already? They sell for a reason and I don't get the hating on thing's just because other people, or a lot of other people have them.
I hate how Apple Inc. waits until the last guy/girl willing to spend $79 does, then they drop the price better still they add a gig and act like it is a new product.
the once a week:
We'll be
back
soon
soon to to be once a day.
wake me up on the Feb 26th to see if apple releases something of interest.
pauses what are those?
Damn.... I just bought one! What should I do now?!
(throws iPod at wall)
wow, i got up for this?
Damn, I just bought one too.
I'm still waiting for my iPhone shuffle, dammit.
i own a shuffle, and have no prob with over 200 songs, why only 40 or 50 thats like buying a hummer to drive in tow.... nm ppl do that to
You can't honestly compare the Zen to the Shuffle, pleassssse !! Somehow people believe that that tiny OLED screen and FM radio is some kind of huge bonus. I havent listened to the radio in years, WTF do I want it on my mp3 player for. The Shuffle is marketed to active lifestlye oriented people for which it is perfectly designed with the built-in clip which in my mind is WAY better than FM radio or a tiny screen which just kills your battery anyways. Do you really need a screen with a 1 Gig player to navigate that massive library. Shake your head people. There is a reason why Apple RULZ the mp3 market. To all the haters, you suck !!
What annoys some of us is the idea that an Apple product seems to carry "status". There are better "workout players" than the shuffle, for example the Clip from Sansa. Take away it's screen, take away it's FM, take away it's recording capability, it's still better (better sound, longer battery life, integrated storage capability and standard USB connector). Like the shuffle, it is small and has an integrated clip. Shuffle is fine but in my (and others eyes), people buy it because they are somehow needing to satisfy an image. These Kool-Aid drinkers just annoy me in general. They are the same people that buy Lucky Jeans and Abercrombie & Fitch. I just want to beat them up... :)
Seriously though, this whole thing is silly. This kind of stuff just gives nerds like you and me something to champion. It's all fun and games...
first commenter said it all. lock the post.
If you bought it within the last 14 days from Apple, you can call them and have them adjust the price for you (= refund).
Really? What do I have to do to get it adjusted?
And uh.... what if I bought it from an online merchant? Am I out of luck? It's still new.... I haven't opened it yet....
Sixty nine
What part of "Zen Stone doesn't work with iTunes music" is evading you people? Whether or not you like it, iTunes is the most popular music management software, and the iTunes Store sells billions of songs. People are not going to abandon their purchased music just to have a terrestrial radio, and let me tell you: Creative's customer service and warranty support sucks. They offer nothing but the hardware, and then you're pretty much on your own.
People like iTunes. You may hate Apple for some weird reason, and think you're being some sort of cool rebel geek by declaring Apple off-limits, but really, you're in the minority on this one, and it's because Apple makes damn good products and stands behind them. It's because they understand the user interface and make things people can use. It's because they offer the full package- the player PLUS the music- that they are dominating this market.
So enjoy your Zen Stone, and the thrills you must get from messing around with WinAmp or Media Jukebox and drag-n-drop music management. The rest of us will enjoy convenience and compatibility with the most prolific music software in the world.
And when your Stone breaks, have fun calling India and listening to them recite from a script, then accuse you of dropping it. After the way Creative treated me, I'll never buy from them again.
omgomg i've totally been waiting for this day my whole life
