Samsung's YP-P2 gets firmware v3.15, a handful of new features
We don't want to get too granular on these firmware updates, but it looks like another YP-P2 re-up has imbued the device with some interesting new features. Apparently, version 3.15 adds three new games to your device, the ability to record FM radio as an MP3, new repeat functions, control over the speed of music playback (which we think is totally boss), and EmoTure 1.5, which has a handful of improved features (or so we're told). The whole shebang is available right now for your downloading pleasure... so go grab it.

If Samsung was smart, they would have included an ear piece at the top, and a mic on the bottom, then people could really use this as a BT phone alernative.
I would love to have my old junk BT phone in my bag, and just use this to make calls and what not. Kind of a non-official touch screen phone... hmm...
applefreak @ Feb 21st 2008 10:24AM
but you can answer a phone
Ryan @ Feb 21st 2008 3:21PM
It can do that.
JayVe @ Feb 21st 2008 10:54AM
Does this allow you to share files with a PC using Bluetooth? That would be ace!
aldo @ Feb 21st 2008 10:57AM
Yes, it also allows you to share all of your mp3's with anyone else who has a P3 over bluetooth.

Only one thing is stopping me purchasing one of these things at the moment and that is the fact that they don't as yet have one with 32Gb. When they do I'll be first in the queue.
caz @ Feb 21st 2008 12:20PM
I'll buy one when 16 GB is available.
Dude @ Feb 21st 2008 3:10PM
totally agree, it needs more space, then it'd be perfect!

Any FLAC yet?
No FLAC == no buy

"control over the speed of music playback (which we think is totally boss)"
Why? My Cowon has that too and I never use it. The only advantage I can think of, would be to get through a podcast quicker, but you write "music playback". Does anyone really listen to their music slower or faster than normal?
Milo @ Feb 21st 2008 1:01PM
I use the the playback speed with the A-B repeat on my P2 for learning difficult guitar riffs.
Alexander @ Feb 21st 2008 12:53PM
just might get this now
Miles Byrd @ Feb 21st 2008 1:01PM
The new features on my player are great. The P2 is quickly becoming and awesome PMP. I just wish Samsung put more into advertising so more of my friends knew what they were... :(
Kirill @ Feb 21st 2008 1:08PM
How much do I have to buy for this download then? £12.99 is it? :D
Mush @ Feb 21st 2008 1:53PM
this isnt "new" per say.. but more like and update to the 3.07 firmware as it was buggy...3.07 had all these features already, 3.15 is just a more stable version of it, why does engadget act like it never it existed?
Gorillamonk @ Feb 21st 2008 2:32PM
Because, they hope it would go away and get a newer shinier version. Sans the Apple logo, perhaps.....
Ryan @ Feb 21st 2008 3:21PM
Okay, why are people talking when they don't own it? You can transfer the file to any Bluetooth device. You can use it with a phone to dial phone numbers and use the headphones. You can listen to music and still answer the phone. Any other questions?
Big Sam @ Feb 21st 2008 8:05PM
Are the games showing up for anyone? When I click on Games under Prime Pack it says No File. Did the same thing after 3.07 too
Big Sam @ Feb 21st 2008 8:06PM
Never mind. Its a separate download to get them.
Evan @ Feb 21st 2008 9:06PM
playback speed potentially used by dj... the reason an ipod mixer sucks balls and cant match beats.

Anyone know if it's ever gonna be possible to listen to the FM tuner through a bluetooth headset? currently when I try to tune a FM station while listening to my BT headset it tells me the settings are incompatible and turns off my BT. Really annoying!!
tramstop45 @ Mar 30th 2008 10:48AM
What Samsung need to do is to enable the equalizer setup for a2dp mode. IT SUCKS not to get the best quality of sound when you have invested a lot in to a bluetooth mp3 player and a bluetooth headset. :(
Jordan @ May 13th 2008 11:08PM
Seriously considering this mp3 player and dumping my cowon d2. Does anyone know if they have the "cosmos" effect for album art? That would be way better then coverflow
