Canadian Xbox 360 gets $50 price cut, our hockey players are still better looking

While all those juicy Canadian money jokes are sadly behind us, the dropping US dollar does have one nice side effect, at least for those pesky squatters north of the border. That's right, Canadians are finally getting an Xbox 360 pricing scheme on par with us Americans, with the 360 Pro dropping from $399 to $349, the Elite dropping from $499 to $449, and the Arcade slouching from $299 down to $279. If it weren't for the fact that this price drop is long overdue and the exchange rate still has 'em forking over $5 extra, we'd almost be jealous of those hosers up north.[Via Xbox 360 Fanboy]
Any truth to the rumor that the US 360 is gonna get a price drop? I was talking to a guy at the local gamestop and he said that the trade in value has been reduced at gamestop
What about us UK'ers over the pond? Where's our price drop? =[ Arcade edition is £200/$400 here...
Guess that's the price we pay for owning Canada? Haha
I wouldn't say owning anymore. We have our own queen, thank you. It just happens to be your queen too. She has a different name and responsibility across the pond. You're paying a high price for... having too many sat-nav problems.

It's that large land mass above your Yankee ass. Believe it or not, when people reference "The World", they're actually talking about more than just the US. Best to brush up on your Geography. ;)

Man, you Canucks sure like to bash our knowledge of geography. I once made an incorrect statement in front of a Canadian about where Banff was located, and he jumped all over my lack of geography knowledge in front of a bunch of people. Seemed dammed proud of himself too.
I have no problem at all with Canadians, but this geography thing seems like an inferiority complex to me.
You hit the nail on the head. Canadians are born with an inferiority complex. It's hard not to be defensive when 90% of 'our' media is actually American. We're constantly beat over the heads about how great America is so when we actually have a chance to stand out, we jump all over it.
(I DO think that the majority of Americans would be surprised to learn just how enormous a land mass Canada is though.)
Finally our dollar is back to par and we're not paying an unnecessary premium on electronics. Imagine always having to add 50% to the price of stuff... that's what it was like.
And the ugly hockey player comment? If you exclude Mike Ricci, I'd say we're about even (he brings the average waaay down). Roenick anyone? Yikes.
Well the title was a bit of a tease....and he i was thinking that the 360 was getting even cheaper stateside, but noooo.

I live in the UK. I remember staying up on election night. I can remember the shock I felt. It was a bad move by you lot, to say the very least.

Yes, CA-NA-DA, CA-NA-DA....dammit, I already bought my 360. As for better looking hockey players, it's a toss up. The two ugliest ones by far are jason blake and chris chelios, both yanks. But we can through in Mike Ricci.

Really nice to see a price actually reflect the exchange rate for once.
Too bad we're still paying 13% tax on top of that (in Ontario, at least).
You should try Sweden, we have a 25% tax on these sorts of things here :'(
Yikes. Yeah, I like to complain about Canadian prices vs. US, but I'm well aware of how much most of Europe seems to get screwed on stuff like this.

Hey man I get what this blog is about, and I know I'm coming off as pretty humorless but I guess I've got a pretty short fuse when it comes to this kind of thing, especially when it's so witless.

No worries. We all have our soft spots. Hey just for the record, I visited Canada for the first time last year (went to Banff with my wife) and it was an amazing place, and the people were very friendly. You guys have some beautiful country up there. We'll be back for sure, probably Vancouver/Victoria next time.
