Ah, finally, video of the production Optimus Maximus keyboard in real world use with our machine running the Configurator software. We won't spoil all the fun, hit up the video after the break to see it in action.

I have to say this would be cooler if it was on e-paper rather than OLED. Plus, probably cheaper to produce, would take less power, and I wouldn't have to have a keyboard with little lights glaring at me all the time.

Two or three years ago... What it lacks is "good color reproduction." However, it is getting better.

Am I the only one that stunned (in a bad way) at the way you can see the little screens in keys? I'm not talking about the OLEDs themselves, but the screen components. None of the promo shots showed that, and I really feel it detracts from the overall coolness of this board.

a better and cheaper version would be 1 big lcd screen (or more) with a clear plastic keyboard overlay for input. The lcd image could be separated into a key map to represent each key. You could customize each sector to display whatever your want. key sides would be painted black to only allow viewing from above.

We have to remember, this is the first gen of this. First gen stuff is always expensive and buggy. I want to see how this keyboard evolves over time in both price and versatility.

My question is why dont they show it working on windows to its full capacity instead of sucking Apple dick by showing it working poorly on a MAC. Pretty annoying that they are forcing it to work on a machine that it clearly sucks on instead of showing how well it CAN work.

Actually the product is made and designed by a graphic design studio. Which just happens to primarily use Macs in their office environment.

I downloaded the video, and YES! It works exactly as I wanted it to work: whenever you press Shift, characters change, and also AltGr (well, Apple's version of AltGr) works to my delight! I want one! Please, artlebedev, please try to drop its price a little, by making an e-ink version! (Those OLEDs are expensive.)
