Humanscale's eight-monitor mount is huge. Seriously.
Sometimes one display isn't enough. Sometimes you need two. Sometimes you need eight. When you need eight, you'll probably want to contact the folks over at Humanscale -- an ironically named company that creates mounts that are decidedly inhuman. Take the Paramount Parabolic Multi-Monitor Display, for instance: a rack for your bank of eight monitors that's a guaranteed must-have for your elaborate array of "stalking" screens in the basement of your creepy estate. We're sure there are uses for this beyond tracking the every movement of your house-guests, but we don't want to know what they are.

Have any of you ever seen traders screens? I'm guessing not if you are asking all those "maybe for this or maybe for that" questions. Best used for people who need 8 different screens or use 8 different sources. Traders, producers etc.
...philanderers, marauders, goonies, etc.
word!
Also, I would like to see this thing hold up 8 CRTs. THEN I would be impressed.
Hmm...I cant find anywhere telling me how big those screens are. 8 1" screens anyone?
Time to hook this up to WOW and lead my own army against the alliance
I GOT IT!!!!! ITS FOR A SECURITY SYSTEM!!
BOOOYAK!
I think you mean "booyakasha!".
no booyak predates borat
I want that with 8 of the 30" Dell monitors
*squint* Where the hell is my pointer? *ctrl ctrl*
I just realized something, I think bunch of mirrors would have been sufficient just to monitor every angle of my hotness.
Fail.
hmm... i think you didn't intend that "t" in your name?
Only 8? *yawn*. Not interested until a vendor claims it goes to 11.
I kid I kid...
I apologize... indeed fail... it's 5AM where I am, jetlagged and in need to finish report. I really found it funny 10 minutes ago, but now i dont. In my delirous state I should realized that had I eight monitors, one of them might have reminded me not to post that.
It's common to see some mounts like this at the operations desk of investment banks, principally when one needs to trade in international markets.
Not just for gamers, but for serious use.
One serious the other not? Well both are instances of conquering the world, the only difference is that one is fictional and involves bazookas.
I prefer conquering the real world... I can spend the money here...
Four, six or eight monitors is to my knowledge quite common among traders and sales traders in the finance industry, often connected to several sets of computers/keyboards/mice.
Hate to burst everyones bubble, but The majority of people using a setup like this arent gamers
they are most likely
system technicians or engineers, who need to look at an correlate multiplate data feeds at the same time.
nasa/the operaters in the matrix)
This set would also be used by people in financial markets,by brokers/traders to see how much money they can make in multiple markets around the globe
(goldman sacs/hedge funds)
jm, i think it's so really special that you're repeating what was said more concisely in the _very_ previous comment to yours 40 minutes ago.
but you might want to have your keyboard looked at.
@phanboy
...bite...me
Buy one of these, then spend the afternoon gonking away like that spazz in Swordfish.
haha... temper temper. ok jm, if it makes you feel better; your spazzed out post was the rox0rzist of all teh timez
Whoa, every geeks dream is to have that many monitors. Talk about movies, gaming and everything to the max. I'm lucky enough to have two monitors, but more would be nice :P
meh ... its too small
i was looking for something bigger which can hold my eight 150 inch panasonic
i'll pass
already seen a trading desk with 16 screens!
this one seems small
Eight mointors...in order to play Crysis on all eight monitors...lets say the max res for each is 2540p....at max graphics... you would need a QuadroPlex OC (Four Nvidia Quadro FX 5600s 1.5GBVRAM each card overclocked of course) in addition to 3 9800 Ultra OC with 3-way SLI (also overclocked) Lets not forget Having 2 Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme (overclocked to 4Ghz) and 16GB of DDR4 Ram. And having it installed on a 128GB SSD.
The tower of course would have to be liquid nitrogen cooled
Can someone explain to me why this is better than a projector or plasma? Is it the resolution, or just the idea of having different apps in each pane?
No.1 Reason is resolution. A projector filling the same physical space would just make the pixels bigger, so you get a nice blocky look. A giant plasma screen is the same (barring the new 2k and 4k screens).
I couldn't help myself, I'd just have to put that matrix screensaver on :)
"We're sure there are uses for this beyond tracking the every movement of your house-guests, but we don't want to know what they are."
Hell. If I had eight monitors in an array like that, I'd set up cameras just to let me watch my monitor array. It'd be a glorious infinite loop of me watching myself watching my monitor array watch itself. I'd never go outside.
Mounts like this are already available for commercial use guys, i think this is actually aimed at consumer markets. It makes sense for the rise of home security systems that include cameras.
Still, the majority use will be porn at first...
This reminds me of the movie Blank Check...I loved that movie.
WANT!
Uhhh...I use 8 systems simultaneously at work. AND, I work with those who use more. Many 'command center' environments could/will make use of this. Right now each of my monitors is on an individual articulating arm. Getting them all placed/lined-up is a real pain. Inevitably some idiot comes along who decides to bump them or move one and messes the whole thing up.
I work in a financial command center. It was built in 2000 before flat panels. We have 21 monitors to watch 150 machines. Right now we have a separate mouse and keyboard for each monitor. Three of these setups would be great.
