What, no rear views? I want my port porn! ;)

I laughed at this in my office and opened it without fear...
??? do they do dolby true HD? if not i have to wonder why get a RX-V863 over a sony str-dg2100? need to know street prices before making a decision on this set.
Only for the RX-V863 and RX-V663 which are $1000 and $550 respectively. My question is if Dolby True HD is really worth that extra money.
Spec sheet says, yes, TrueHD support. DTS-MA is a nice touch, too. It'd be nice if the MSRP of the RX-V863 was about $150 lower to compete more effectively with the Denon 2808CI, but maybe dealer prices will be better.
Well it's nice to see some HD receivers and processors trickle in. I'm still waiting for my preprocessor. :D
Looking at the rear views on the Yamaha web site, it looks like there are no pre-outs (like for using an external amp to beef things up, easy upgrade path) on these new units at the lower price points, unlike the last (current) generation. That's disappointing, though not surprising since few of the competitors' models at this point have that feature. Glad I got in on the current gen!
Well, nothing listed about the chip they use for 1080p upscaling, so that's a potential knock against this unit. Also it doesn't look like they have the Audyssey processing in their receivers yet. I've heard such incredible things about this room optimization technology that it's on the short list for me in any new receiver.
The nice thing is that EVERYONE is going to have HDMI 1.3 receivers with upconversion this year, so there will be a ton of options. It might just be the year my venerable Marantz receiver gets retired to the bedroom.

You should check it out. When I finish my basement, that's the new centerpiece.
How crazy that there are only two HDMI inputs on all but the $1,000 unit! These would be great if I didn't ever plan on adding a Blu-ray Disc player...
I wonder if Onkyo is about to release some new models, thinking mainly about the sr805 and sr875
I just pre-ordered a RX-V663, this is probably the cheapest "level 6" receiver you can find. Found a $400 deal from http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=752515, most of these will probably be $150 below MSRP not long after they hit the market.
What do you mean Level 6. Are there some sort of tiers of quality?
And how would these compare to a Onkyo 605/705, Ive had my eye on those for a while, but should I wait a few more months for new ones from the rest of the manufacturers?
