Apple's 1.1.4 firmware update for the iPhone and iPod touch just hit the wires, courtesy of iTunes 7.6.1.9. Nobody knows what exactly is in store (SDK support, perhaps?), so obviously those jailbreakers out there might want to hold off while the braver souls among us give it a shot. For the record, no SDK has hit Apple Developer Connection yet, so take that for what you will. So far those who've successfully updated haven't seen any changes, but we'll keep you posted. So far the entire official word from Apple on the release seems to be "Bug fixes." Typical.
Update: So far we've tested 1.1.4 on a jailbroken 1.1.3 iPhone and a non-jailbroken 1.1.3 iPhone, and had zero problems with either, including intact music libraries after the procedure -- your mileage may vary! We went through all of the system settings and can't spot anything new. Multiple sources are claiming ZiPhone works, but it's not fully tested and may be a little wonky at this point, so proceed with caution.
Update 2: Well, ZiPhone claims to have worked, but there aren't any icons for our installed apps, and we can't uninstall or reinstall. Also, it's worth noting that since this is a rather hefty update in terms of file size, and yet added features seem non-existent, our best guess is that this paves the way for an SDK in the coming weeks.

This is more likely the result of Apple/Google using an updated
version of what ever cell-tower/wifi network georeferencing database
they're using.
(I was interested and did a quick search - looks like the
company which provides the wifi location data is called Skyhook

I really don't think it is significantly and uniformly more accurate. A lot of people have reported it is less accurate, but in my experience, it was erratic before, so it would be hard to tell.
It did seem faster at finding my location when I just tried it, but I think I'm going to have to see how it is in other locations.
Well, I'm not sure if it was possible before, but I managed to pair iphone with my mac, trying different services now (no luck yet)
I mean using Bluetooth ;-)
How'd you get it to pair (or did you)? I'd never tried before now. The Mac detected it as a smartphone and got as far as offering me a passcode, but the phone never showed that it had discovered the computer much less allow me to enter the passcode.
Ok, I got it to pair, but my Mac says it can't find any services.
selected settings > general > bluetooth on your iphone, it says "Now discoverable". Then Searched for BT mobiles (on my mac), found my iphone, connected, iphone asked for pin displayed on mac screen - voila! But found no use for this feature.
i had a jailbroken 1.1.3 and updated to 1.1.4. i used ziphone to jailbreak. everything is still installed but the only 3rd part icon is my installer. i unistalled some apps and reinstalled and they showed back up. only a few apps work though.
Things that are obvious fixes but never get fixed.
1. Cover flow only shows 1 audio book.
2. Audio books book mark gets nuked when you play a mp3 file
3. no virtual scroll wheel for forwarding thru long audio files.
4. audio files > 350mb
None of those sound like bugs to me...They sound like features that you want.

this was a waste of an update ive seen nothing and safari still closes all by itself whats with that? hey at at least i got to waste an hour of my day on this it makes me feel good. how do you jailbreak this phone again?
Wow, that bug where I have to turn off my wireless every time I sync my touch because if I don't iTunes thinks it's an iPhone and gives me an error....Yeah, too bad that wasn't a part of this "bug fix".
can't wait till the apps are able to be downloaded via WiFi
Noticed they fixed the screen flickering problem when you are in a low lit room on the iPod Touch...definitely less annoying
Maybe Safari won't crash every two seconds now. I've heard it's WAY unstable.

It's not "way unstable." It will sometimes quit on very large web pages, heavily scripted sites, etc. It's not as stable as a desktop computer browser, but it's many times more stable than the nearest mobile device browser.
I'm skeptical. I have a WM6 smartphone and since the upgrade to WM6 from WM5, I don't think my browser has ever crashed. It may not always load a heavily scripted site on occasion, but I hasn't closed down on me that I can think of.
Have you personal experience with IE on WM6, or are you just being an Apple flagwaver?
The speakerphone is louder (finally usable)! Just tried it.
None of the apps will work if you upgrade to 1.1.4 then try to unlock through ziphone. I didn't have either and upgraded followed by ziphoning it and couldn't install customize or anything else.
I had a friend who ran into the no icons after successful jailbreak thing. The solution was to use the 1.0 version of ziphone instead of the most recent one. Hope this helps.
This most likely has nothing to do with the update. I was listening to my iPhone today. I only had the right headphone in (the one with the in-line mic) so I could hear at work and son of b. Shocked the shit out of me bad. I called apple they said it was most likely a short but my headphones are in good condition. Its ok and because they will replace the electric headphones for free. Anyone every have this happen to them please let me know.
Looks like the update for the ipod touch makes it so the web pages you have open before you standby dont go to white screens when you come back from standby... Check it out and see if this is true.
Will ZiPhone be able to jailbreak and unlock this f**k**g 1.1.4 ?!?!?!?

Update worked, Installer present after jailbreak... but times out and does not install anything. Trying a restore followed by ziphone 2.2 jailbreak... To be continued
after numerous restores i realized once again what an idiot i am... I was using ziphone 2.2... the latest is 2.4 Upgrade or restore to 1.1.4 and unlock with ziphone 2.4 and everything works perfectly so far! :0

It fixed some issues with syncing mail with your .Mac account. When you read a message on the iPhone and put it in a folder, Mail on a Mac would show an unread message in that folder. That is issue is now resolved and the mail syncs properly.
The new update 1.1.4 allows me to view .pdf files and also displays the current page/total pages in the document. This was not possible in the earlier versions. However I am still not able to view a Powerpoint file
I updated mine, and today when I was adjusting the volume for a TV show, the same volume interface appeared as on the Mac for a moment, you know the one with the dots? I think that was a part of the hidden support for 3rd party software, because I doubt the new programs will have convenient volume controls.
