Solid Alliance offers up Lego-like USB flash drives
We can't say that no one has ever doled out a USB flash drive with a hint of Lego before, but how could one ever complain about more? This go 'round, it's Solid Alliance doing the deed with its USB Brick Key. The device arrives doused in green, black, blue or red and offers up 1GB of internal storage space, but unfortunately, pricing is one detail it failed to divulge. Feel free to take one last peek after the jump, you know you can't resist.

I love Lego's.
They aren't childish at all and can be more fun than die cast/ scale model building.
We use them in Physics 323 to program robotics sets and build complex machine demo's.
I have an old page here.

I hate to be the one to do this but the proper term is Lego Pieces. I just don't want you to get drawn and quartered, people take that crap seriously.
And as for the actual drives, I would totally want one but w/o LEGO branded onto each stud it just seems worthless to me.

I like this gadget but is kinda dangerous if u have a 5 year old niece that can put it in her mouth (since is sooo colorful)
eugene @ Feb 26th 2008 10:25AM
I could understand 2... or 3, but she's still putting random things in her mouth at 5?
chrise524 @ Feb 26th 2008 3:00PM
wouldn't that apply to any flash drive. there are many other colorful ones. Oh and you probably shouldn't have keys, change, pens, pencils, ect in you house either. Their about as dangerous

is their a mega-blocks version for the parents who want to ruin their childrens social life?
Flashpoint @ Feb 26th 2008 9:57AM
don't talk bad on Mega Blocks.
even though MB areobviously a cheaper ripoff of LEGO, MB makes more ambitious products such as aircraft carriers amd model fighters wherin LEGO is stuck perpetualy making Star Wars, Bionicles and ExoForce
(Exo Squad ripoffs)

Or Megablocks doesn't shell out for the mondo expensive licenses, so they need to get more creative, perhaps?
What always bothered me about megablocks is that their plastics' colors were always just a bit 'off' from Lego's. The saturation values were always lower, making them look faded, or somehow 'cheaper' by comparison.

Definitely cool. I want one in blue. Price please.
SeraphinaValma @ Feb 26th 2008 9:49AM
Sweet! They even connect to regular legos! I'm in for one (or two, or five).
maveric101 @ Feb 26th 2008 9:57AM
they're quite small too, and don't seem to big vertically to block ports.
root.alt @ Feb 26th 2008 9:57AM
Zomg, screw the new MBP, im buying 2,000 of these and building the first lego-flash CASTLE!
AutoTom @ Feb 26th 2008 10:13AM
hahaha g1
monkfishbandana @ Feb 26th 2008 11:47AM
You, sir! I'll take one of your 2TB castles!
fischju @ Feb 26th 2008 10:10AM
Good luck finding these after a kid decides they are real blocks and builds a castle.
AutoTom @ Feb 26th 2008 10:13AM
lol i couldnt imagine handing that to my boss..
Jonathan-DBOSS @ Feb 26th 2008 10:20AM
Nice, this'll go great with my soon-to-be lego pc. Vista Compatible. rawr
eugene @ Feb 26th 2008 10:26AM

tiuk @ Feb 26th 2008 10:33AM
Ice burn.

This gives a whole new meaning to stackable memory.
wah wah (trombone)
turn_self_off @ Feb 26th 2008 11:10AM
hmm, now if they came in a package rather then one by one...
thats one thing that i miss from the days of the floppy, the ability to grab a box of 10...
sure, you can do that with a dvd-r or whatever, but those require special software to use more often then not...
Blaktornado @ Feb 26th 2008 11:42AM
Shame there's no way to connect them together, like real legos. Say, you buy 12 and connect them all together to get a 12GB flash drive. Hope you're listening, Solid Alliance!
PEZ @ Feb 26th 2008 11:52AM
What would be a total pisser is, if you could stack the logos and that would compound your total storage space.
mmmmmmm...
AkumaX @ Feb 26th 2008 12:11PM
are these compatible with regular Legos? this would be a GREAT way to hide data around your room :P
DownBringer @ Feb 26th 2008 7:26PM
I assume by data you mean that large collection of images/videos/games (if you're into that thing) you want to keep away from your wife/mother/children.
lego - probably not the best way to keep it away from the children but its a good idea none the less.
Chinpira @ Feb 26th 2008 5:23PM
What do you do with the cap? If the cap can not be stuck onto the body when removed, this whole concept is lame.
Lego fiend @ Feb 27th 2008 4:57PM
These are actually Zip Zip Memory Bricks, from an Australian company
Solid Alliance is selling them in Japan.
Check it out.
www.zipzip.net.au
And Zip Zip has 2GB ones as well.
