Razer teases CeBIT-bound Speed of (The) Light mouse
With CeBIT opening its doors in Germany in just a matter of days, it seems that Razer is already getting us antsy by rolling out a new teaser for an upcoming mouse. Granted, it's not like the firm hasn't pulled something similar before, but considering that it specifically notes March 4th as the date to check back for more details, it's not exactly being secretive about where the launch will take place. T-minus six days until the Speed of (The) Light is revealed -- we're tense with anticipation.

Well at least it emerges from a wormhole before you use it
Aguiluz @ Feb 27th 2008 4:16PM
At first glance, I thought this was a washing machine.
Chebwa @ Feb 27th 2008 4:17PM
lol!
Check out that render. Looks like it should be on the back of a Trapper Keeper with some cones and 3D orbs.
Sime @ Feb 27th 2008 4:19PM
probably gonna be a mouse with some kind of ridiculously high dpi rating
Harbo @ Feb 27th 2008 5:29PM
you must be frickin physic!
Zeus.:God @ Feb 27th 2008 5:31PM
Physic?
Harbo @ Feb 27th 2008 5:52PM
yer my bad, meant psychic, heavily dyslexic
wonderbread @ Feb 27th 2008 4:19PM
Mice that track by means of light beam. That's brilliant! Hope they patent it quick.
phanbouy @ Feb 27th 2008 4:33PM
this mouse clearly has lazer beams shooting from its head. and every other orifice for that matter
superfresh @ Feb 27th 2008 4:32PM
cord=fail
Cursor @ Feb 27th 2008 5:17PM
Doesn't matter how good your wireless mouse is, it still can't compare to the precision of a wired mouse.
kojo87 @ Feb 27th 2008 5:29PM
yeah nothing beats a wired. i have a Razer DeathAdder and its pretty damn baller. its only 1800 dpi but i dont think i could handle any faster. if this is higher dpi that the 4000 dpi Lachesis thats just overkill and next to useless.
im definately checking back March 4 but i dont really feel like dumping my DeathAdder.
Natedog @ Feb 27th 2008 6:14PM
I too enjoy my Deathadder, and don't even use half of its 1800dpi rating (I keep it at 4.5/10, whatever that means).
Shaun @ Feb 27th 2008 10:02PM
We don't know it's a cord for sure, maybe it's a telescopic radio antenna sticking out the front.
Grizz @ Feb 28th 2008 8:44AM
Cord = No cross talk and interference at a LAN party resulting in embarrassing Bill Gates and Conan OBrian presentation situations.
superfresh @ Feb 27th 2008 4:36PM
My "cord=fail" comment got pulled? Why?
Timmy @ Feb 27th 2008 5:05PM
"Cord = Fail" Comment= Fail
Chebwa @ Feb 28th 2008 1:19AM
Cord = No fucking batteries and no real downside for a standard PC setup.
Cords = WIN.
superfresh @ Feb 27th 2008 4:40PM
Where did my comment go? "Cord=Fail" got pulled?
superfresh @ Feb 27th 2008 4:41PM
Great. Thanks Engadget. Start voting me down please.

Voting you down will not erase your stupidity.
alphaomega679 @ Feb 28th 2008 10:38AM
I must agree with superfresh on this one lol. I understand that chorded mice obviously doesn't match the precision of a chorded mouse, but the idea of adding another chord to the billion other chords that I have at the back of my table isn't that appealing. I own a Razer Lachesis mouse which functions amazing. 4000 DPI Laser 9 button mouse is awesome. However, if they made a wireless version of this I would buy it in an instant. I find myself using my Logitech G7 mouse more than I do the Razer. Same issue thing with my Logitech G15 Gaming keyboard... It now sits in my shelf while I use my wireless Logitech diNovo Edge. After switching over to a wireless keyboard and mouse I guess it just feels more comfortable. Just preference. I know chord > wireless in performace.
Blaktornado @ Feb 27th 2008 6:13PM
Looks very retro :P
Ayle @ Feb 27th 2008 7:05PM
It looks exactly like my black copperhead....
Shaun @ Feb 27th 2008 10:07PM
I have a Lachesis, and it's a good mouse, but it still has a lot of problems. I hope they won't dump the Lachesis now that there's the speed of the light to deal with.
Valgas @ Feb 28th 2008 3:28AM
How many mice do you need?
Kurian @ Feb 28th 2008 8:32AM
Its so fast that it outruns the light in front of it and the back facing edge of the mouse gets lit up.
CruciaL @ Feb 28th 2008 9:59AM
Looks like a another Copperhead-look-a-like-with-a-ridiculous-max-dpi-mouse.
Buy the SteelSeries Ikari Laser or Optical mouse, and you will know why I'm saying this.
^_^
Shyam @ Feb 28th 2008 10:55PM
I use a copperhead 2k DPI. It's wonderful. I'm training to be a warcraft 3 professional, and it totally works out for me. I use it on the full DPI, and personally, I wouldn't mind the 4k DPI either. I feel that this one will have the high digits, but I think it's not about that, they probably reduced ultrapolling from 1ms to like .25 ms or something like that. Because to be honest, they do understand 4k DPI is not needed by any gamer, even a pro they probably specced it up for some nice teflon feet, got great precision, made it colorful, and probably uses a 4G laser or late end 3G for it's precise and ultimately "GODLIKE" control :) I sure do love my Copperhead and Tarantula, I love my 2000 DPI constant, I don't think it's fast enough, and yes I would trade for a Lachesis.

"I too enjoy my Deathadder, and don't even use half of its 1800dpi rating (I keep it at 4.5/10, whatever that means)."
4.5 / 10 is your sensitivity not DPI *rollseye*
