Apple MacBook Pro (with Penryn and multi-touch) unboxing

P.S. -It includes the same model 60Wh battery they've been selling on these for a while, for those puzzled about the battery life changes made to the Apple's MBP spec page.

A look back on popular stories from today in a specific year.

@iDevin: Really? Put a MacBook Pro next to the Powerbook. They're different machines. They're similar that the MBP is evolutionary, not revolutionary. In the end -- is it *really* that big of a deal? The design works. People obviously like it.
Where did I say switching TO Mac? I'm talking from the old MBP key layout to a new one.
Was thinking of upgrading, but this MBP rev is not enough to make me get out the credit card. Oh well, my 9 year old Lombard will just have to soldier on a few more months.
I dont know but I am happy with mine. I just got it yesterday, with the 4gb also and i love it. it's really fast and i had a slow pc. cause it's older. but i love the features of my new mac and it's fun too! so it does look like an old design but to me, it's brand spankin new!
Got my on Tuesday morning.
I'm very disappointed I still don't have LED backlighting on mine and multitouch is useless to people who use Minefield and not iPhoto.
Not that it concerns everyone, but the I'd rather get less VRAM and get the remote (I use neither, but the remote is more useful).
Finally it may be something very trivial, but the the space between the touchpad and the button is pretty big compared to the older model (in other words, dust, oils, and gunk will get in).
So is the magsafe adapter the same as on prior Macs, or have the used the slimmer bevelled magsafe head so that it can used on a Macbook Air and still allow the Air to sit flat?
what an effing disappointment!
Classic design, awesome machine. I love the minimalist aesthetic.
MacBook Pro = dream machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That said, it wouldn't hurt if they made it thinner.

The unboxing of the exact same computer that I picked up on Tuesday at my local Apple Store. It sure is beautiful.
I would love to see some of the following features:
Blu-ray
HDMI
SSD
Why is everyone up in a tissy about no new form factor?? If this one works then it should only be changed when a major improvement is realized and how often does that actually happen? Most design changes are cosmetic and serve no purpose but to make the user envy the new design over the old and want to upgrade.
What's that application with the "Speed 20" icon in the Dock?

As the owner of a new Macbook Pro Penryn with the multi-touch trackpad, I am not too happy. My MBP misses keystrokes at random, one in every 10 or 15 keystrokes is missed. The issue is documented on Apple Defects at:

More keyboard issues are on

It seems Apple released a firmware update for the MBPs recently, but it doesnt apply to the Penryn models. I do hope Apple fixes this glitch soon. Having a new computer malfunction from day one, and then attempt to take it back to applecare and find out that the parts to be replaced are out of stock isnt fun.
Hey there, does anyone know if it is normal for the new models that the lid does not close 100% on the front. I have an approximate 1.5mm space on both sides. Looks a little odd, thats why I am asking. Thanks.
Oh and, the case gets really warm after 4 hours of use, anyone can confirm that this is normal, too?
