Europe getting 40GB PS3 bundles packing Gran Turismo, Blu-ray movies
While we chew on that incoming Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 (with DualShock 3) in the States, Europe has a pair of SKUs of its own to look forward to. Sony's hitting with a "movie bundle" on March 19th that includes Spider-Man 3, 300 and Casino Royale on Blu-ray, along with a 40GB PS3, all for the regular €399 price. If you can wait until March 29th, for the same price you can nab a 40 gigger bundled with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Both bundles promise to be quite appealing, but apparently neither come packing HD cables, which could be a bit of a hangup for those ready to make the Blu-ray plunge. GT5 box art is after the break.

Oh come on. I'm sure you'd *never* buy one. If it had DVR, it would lack something else.
Well, I think of this as a potential replacement for a Media Center PC.
Right now the Media Center can play Blu-Ray, DVR, play video games, and there's 2 monitors so sometimes you can do two things at once.
If the PS3 could add the whole "DVR" experience, it would be a perfect match for a Windows Media Center (and the PS3 would sell better because it's inexpensive compared to a new Media Center PC).
Get a life man. Many people aren't concerned with DVR especially since I already have one and so do plenty of other people. You are asking for something that a limited amount of people want, and PlayTV is coming out anyways so calm your horses.
And obiviously DVR isn't what is selling consoles since the Wii is outselling both the Xbox 360 and PS3 - and last time I check no console has a DVR built in and the PS3 is the only one that is even close to it.
You aren't actually addressing my request for a DVR.
You are trolling quite well. KUDOS!
Really now...shouldn't the 'movie' pack come with a remote? Hardly appeals to non-gamers who buy it for the movie capabilities with the dual shock as a control :(
Give people a sole console, they complain about the price.
Give them a bundle for the same price, they still complain.
Jesus.
Please stop with the bundles. I HATE being told what to buy. If I want a PS3, I'll buy it without some shitty movies, thanks.
So are you unclear on the concept or something? Nobody is forcing you to buy a bundle. If you want a PS3 without a bundle THEN BUY ONE. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out.
Everywhere I look, I see bundles. It's actually quite difficult to find a sole console.

funny how some say Blu Ray isnt need yet i was reading today in Game Informer that on the 360 version of MLB 2k8 couldnt fit all the data they put on the PS3 version. All the stuff that will be left of the 360 game will have to be DLC
Yeah, except that in the end it will be the same as with the Blu-Ray. On the 360 you're downloading the content and putting it on your hard drive. On the PS3 you're "installing" the content on the hard drive. In the end, Blu-Ray isn't being used as much more than a transport for the data, which is frequently requiring an installation on the PS3's hard drive.
I just don't get how that's all that different from downloading it to the 360's hard drive. Either way, it's extra content that isn't being accessed on the disc.
And at least with some of the 360 games, you don't HAVE to put anything on the hard drive in order to play the game. There are some PS3 games that require you spend a part of your day to install content before you even touch the game itself.
The negative side for the 360 is that downloaded content must be "confirmed" with an Internet connection. No Internet, and your DLC doesn't work, even if it IS on your hard drive.
Honestly, if you put the 360 and PS3 together, you'd have the perfect console. They both have benefits, and they both have problems.
...At least neither of them is a Wii. Boy, am I glad I didn't buy THAT clunker of a system.
