1) PCs like these are not designed to be the best bang-for-the-buck
2) If you're putting in the best components money can buy, how can you improve performance? Last I knew, Asus didn't dabble in processor microarchitecture. And I really doubt they used any proprietary board for this system it's probably a high-end model from their regular motherboard lineup.
(If you were a tuba player, you might have known this already.)
