Bungie to bring justice to Xbox 360 repair mishap
After Nathaniel's nostalgic Xbox 360 was quite literally wiped clean when sent in for repair, we had a sneaking suspicion the powers that be would make sure things were rectified. Thankfully, the bigwigs at Bungie are already conjuring up a solution that it hopes will "come very close" to acting as a replacement. According to Bungie community director Brian Jarrard, his team is "rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation," and while no details beyond that have been divulged, we can't help but suspect that the resolution to all of this will be more than satisfactory.

Kudos for Bungie steppin' up!
I'm not "the" Nathaniel, but I'm very glad to see that Bungie comes through for this kid. I'm an XBOX die-hard and it's quite depressing hearing about all of the failures. Keep fighting the good fight! (against the Covenant of course). Viva Bungie!
lol, on the otherside of the xbox, "Don't put too much ink on me, I might overheat"

I CAN HAS WARTHOG?
A brand spanking new PS3. Go Blu.
LMAO
Troll, please take your trolling else where.
Off a cliff or in some kind of shark infested pit might be some good places.
Yea, so he can play all those games Bungie doesn't make for the PS3.
Besides, he wants to play games, not watch movies all day.
be sure to take the shark shield with you to your shark-infested pit
oh wait...
lol why call him a troll, i thought that was hilarious. dont have to take obvious jokes literally, you sound more like more like a fanboy than him
Clearly a joke. You're like one of those assholes the politicize everything, except you're making this into a fanboy's console flame war.
No, he really is a sony fanboy. See some of his joystiq posts.
@rv
Ad hominem
I think you guys are over-analyzing the poster's comment.. otherwise giving it an unnecessary amount of attention.
I think he is actually trying to communicate Beethoven's struggle expressed in his Ninth Symphony. Just a guess though...
well played, sir :)
He should have put a note inside the console itself saying that if they touched the artwork he would hunt the person down.
Void the warranty right before you send it in for repairs?
Great advice, Chris, good job.
He could have put it in the disk drive
Oh someone is getting Halo 4 early. Time to scribble on mine and claim that the same thing happened to me so I can get Gears 2 ahead of schedule =)
I think the technicians doused the 360 in cleaning stuff before going into a clean room. It's standard procedure, right?
But then again, maybe they watched a Youtube video and was afraid of handling 360s ever since.

That was dumb. You wasted 5 seconds of my life.
@ JontheMiller
Then don't watch. I'm not forcing you or anything. :)
@Aguiluz: I am disappointed, you just wasted a great opportunity to Rick Roll everyone. He is never gonna give you up.....
why would they soak it in cleaner fluid? wouldnt it just mess up the xbox even further?
That was stupid. I didn't finish watching it.
I wonder what would happen if the online media if you will didn't get involved. That's the sad part. Microsoft doesn't care at all; they can't even fix the problem Bungie has to step in and fix it. It's like having your watch repaired and them repairing it with a new head and the fruit vendor outside buying you a new one. This is terrible customer support, but that's nothing new to Microsoft
Oh shut up, honestly. Do you think Allard is standing there in the repair center watching every 360 that comes by? These are people who probably see scribbles on the 360's come in, stickers, coloring, etc. They dont know whats written on the 360 they are repairing because they dont give a shit. They fix it and move on to the next one.
Besides, companies cant all of a sudden bend over backwards in situations like this by offering free goods, financial compensation, etc. because it eventually leads to people taking advantage of the graciousness. Besides, there really isnt anything Microsoft could have done on their end besides getting Bungie to re-sign the 360 he has now, which is what is happening (regardless of Microsoft asking them or not).
Some of you people will complain about anything just to take a stab at MS.
He wrote a letter in it telling them not to do it read the story and microsoft should have taken responsibility
I did read the story. Im sure this isnt the first story they have received. Ive worked in a support center and ive heard bullshit that i just had to disregard.
Although if i were reading that letter, it would seem pretty plausible. You still have to be weary. But its a fact that Microsoft is no different than any other company. You think without the media, Sony or Nintendo would hand out compensation for that? Would they even respond? Would your letter even reach a person high on the pyramid? Theres no reason to pick on Microsoft when everyone else would do the same thing until something like this becomes public.
@reuben
MS SHOULD bend over backwards, remember it is MS fault they released a system that has red rings of death, you never had that with the original XBOX, NES, PS2. MS should be taking every chance to go above and beyond!
wow. That metaphor took me a good 30 seconds of staring blankly just to comprehend.
Good one though. Kudos.
Brian is a good guy. I'm sure he'll hook this guy. What a crap deal!
5 bucks says it will RRoD again!
1 week later, it RRoDs
Bungie: "MOTHERF!@#$%&"
The guys new 360 RRoDs is what I meant to say.
Can has Recon?
I feel no remorse for a little wiener that sends in his 'prized possession' to Microsoft and expects it to come back safely.
That's what makes you a dick.
You use the word fanboy.
lmao I know seriously
Everyone uses the word fanboy, when they start spelling it with an i, it becomes a problem.

why shouldn't it be respected? is customization of something we own not valuable to a company? If I buy a car, and get a custom paint job, send it into get an oil change, I would hope it doesn't come back stock paint.
It doesn't matter the product, they should (any company, not just MS) should respect this.
but I understand the level of apathy among support center workers.
Your oil analogy is a little flawed. Cars that fail to get oil changes usually don't get replaced with brand new cars in the case it wasn't the oil that was causing trouble.
RMA's almost always result in a completely replaced unit when it comes to most electronics (at least units that are difficult to disassemble). It was the owners fault for not knowing this (or possibly every single electronics manufacturer in existence which doesn't tell you that your product might get replaced when in for a repair).
Regardless, he's probably going to get an elite with a ton of signatures and a "were sorry" package of games and accessories.
Except his analogy does work because they didn't give him a new xbox. Microsoft gave him the xbox back with a cleared case.
Four words:
Life size Spartan armor.
They're going to draw an exact replica of his artwork on a new Xbox 360, have everyone sign it again, then send it to him.
I'm glad to know that there are at least some decent people at Bungie!
Kudos!
Just when I thought I couldn't love Bungie any more they go and do something like this. You guys rock.
That was stupid. I didn't finish watching it.
