Meizu CeBIT booth shut down by German authorities
Remember how the folks at the Meizu booth swore up and down that the M8 Mini One wasn't that similar to the iPhone? Well apparently the Hanover police think otherwise. According to a report, the booth (shown above in its vacated state) was shut down by cops for piracy during CeBIT and passersby were told that, "The venue is closed until further notice." It appears that after stopping down the M8 show, cops proceeded to confiscate equipment and literature associated with the painfully obvious knock-off, and will be making a more detailed statement on Thursday in regards to the action. Meizu, it might be time to get yourself a makeover... and a good attorney.
Update: As you've probably already read, the Meizu booth was apparently shut down due to its use of an unlicensed MP3 codec. At the time we wrote this, all signs were pointing to the cause being the M8's alarmingly familiar UI, though that appears to have slipped through unscathed.

just as an unimportant sidenote - it's "Hannover" not "Hanover"
I'm in your CeBITS, taking your Meizus!
@ Chris: Damn I wish there was a (multi-touch) ignore button.
Implying that I DON'T think the interface looks like the iPhone, then calling me an Apple hater because of that false assumption, which is easily disproved by my earlier post, you know, the you responded to.
In my earlier post I was making the distinction between ripping off the look and feel (which I AGREE with you on) compared to the UNPROVEN as yet accusations that they had STOLEN Apple's code.
The keyboard and contacts screens look VERY similar to the iPhone (but not IDENTICAL), which suggests that they built their own apps that LOOK like the iPhone.
I'd suggest that's much more likely than getting the iPhone OS running in Windows CE, given that here's plenty of easily skinnable FREEWARE apps for WM6 that look like the iPhone as well, from onscreen keyboards to Contact and Photo viewers.
As for Fingerworks 'inventing' multi-touch. Learn your history, while keeping in mind that 'inventing' and 'marketing' are two different things.
I'm not an Apple Hater, just a hater of the vocal minority of Apple consumers who ignore reality for sport... (what that says about me and my G5 I'll leave up to the interpretation of fellow readers).
They're using the Windows OS. Don't people know that already?
What the Fuck !
those Germany need a good lesson. Making enemy with a billion population nation is very dangerous.
Unlikely that China's going to be able to arm EVERY one of them with things other then a pitchfork.
Ahh, the good ol' MP3 patent police strike again. And people still fear the future (technically superior open formats with no hideous royalties needing to be paid).

...both of which Meizu support.
i would like an official explanation what "all of the signs" pointing to the m8 were, besides that you have an unexplainable prejudice against it.
I worked in webdesign for a while, and we (and everyone else I knew in the industry) would "borrow" code etc. Its industry practice. the iPod was itself a series of copies and adaptions.
I'm sick of this "piracy" thing and angry that our tax payers dollars are being used to police this stuff for companies who are turning great profits anyway.
I am chinese, it's hurt me....
disappointing.....we go home.....
we are weakness in technology comparing other country, but we did my best!!!

The M8 is based on Windows Mobile 6 OS. Does that mean microsoft can sue apple for millions now? AND before you brainwashed majority decide to defend apple, they were sued for millions by copying creative's GUI.
@Kizorblade
With china's mass production capability, transforming every factory into a weapons hardware shop would not be hard. You would have a tank army in a matter of days. Parts made in Guang Dong and Szechuan. Assembled in Zhong San. 1.3 billion population running around with AK's and tanks. Dont mess with china. Germany would get run over like a tarred rabbit under a steamroler.
