MagStay Pro overrides MagSafe's releasing abilities
We've all ideas the designers at Cupertino had good intentions when designing the MagSafe adapter, but just in case you can't seem to find the value in said feature, the $11.99 MagStay Pro is out to remedy your curious quandary. As with the JerkStopper, this concoction actually plugs into your MBP's nearby USB port in order to get a better grip on the machine. Apparently, this thing is designed to help you avoid any "unintentional disconnections" in power, but aside from totally blocking your USB port (no passthrough?), you're also begging for some extraneous repair bills. To each his / her own, we guess.

I can see some people may have a use for this (I don't) but come on, 12 bucks for a tiny piece of plastic and $5.59 for shipping via USPS 1st class?
You know in the last 13 years or so of using laptops daily I have never once knocked a laptop off by accidentally yanking (or tripping on ect) the power cord.
A perfect way to use up that one USB port on the Macbook Air.
But, it doesn't fit the MacBook Air.....
But I think I know what you mean! Since the MBA only has 1 USB Haha! But, still, it doesn't fit the MBA.... Hmm. I'm confused!
Oh well :(
It's a joke, sir.
I have not a clue where that USB port is on the Air.
Oh, yea, haha that's what I "kind of" thought, but wasn't really sure.
Now I get it!
Yea, it's sad that the MBA only has one USB port.
Didn't I pay a premium to *get* features like the magsafe?
This idea = Stupid.
Macbook Air = Stupid.
No no no. Macbook Air == Overpriced trendy shit
ouch, fan boys coming in 3 2
Yikes. Isn't there a classier way to say that?
It would have been much better had they solved Apple's lousy strain relief while they were at it. As it stands, they've made it worse.
3rd party manufacturers are limited in what they can do with Magsafe. Apple has a.....wait for it....patent on the tech and I have to image to keep the price gouging profits up to license the tech from Apple would be expensive as hell.

In short Apple is being their usual douchebag selves and the fanbois love them for it.
Yah neither have I....now the dumbshit walking past my table and tripping over the cable sending my laptop spinning to the ground....is another matter. I'm not worried about myself. Its the other idiots who aren't being careful that concerns me.
Sadly yes. Yes they can, and please don't give me the image of the handful of Engadget's Apple fanbois getting the nasty on with Apple. I need to sleep sometime tonight.
It's true. See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305336
@ Jon Doe, wouldn't the person of dubious intelligence be the one who laid the cable in the path of random passers-by?
well, i wish i had this when my macbook pro baterry died on me... I live in Greece and it took me a month to get a new one and i kept accidentally disconnecting the mac due to the magsafe so i do see a value in this.
I have a three year old daughter, two cats, and I use my laptop, plugged in, all over the house (including on TV trays while watching her (say, watching a DVD or something). MagSafe has saved my laptop on at least two occasions.
Now, if only they can create airbags for the iPhone.
Mines never fallen off of the desk...
Thats because i have magsafe...
and not a stupid plastic thing to stop it =]
=D
The whole idea about the mag cord is that it will come out easily, not flinging your powerbook across the room and out of applecare.
@Matt: it's not even knocking the laptop off, but it's damaging to the cable as well. Especially with that barrel power supply apple used to use. I've seen those get pretty bent up.
I don't see the purpose in really locking the magsafe into the port, but I guess to each their $11.99
