Technaxx TouchMe: yet another touchscreen PMP
No, we haven't heard of Technaxx, but we've certainly seen oodles of PMPs that look mighty similar to its latest. Nevertheless, those who just can't resist the whole TouchMe model name will find a 2.8-inch 320 x 240 resolution display, support for MPEG4, AVI, MP3, WMA, JPG and BMP file formats, a text viewer, microSD expansion slot and USB 2.0 connectivity. Additionally, the unit is slated to be available in seven hues -- orange, blue, light-green, black, pink, red and silver -- but Technaxx has yet to divulge any pricing / availability information.

Let's get this out of the way.
"It's a total iPhone knockoff! Apple for life!"
"That looks nothing like an iPhone! Apple sucks!"
Proceed...

"Yeah like you know what your talking about. bloody fanboys!."
"This should be running android"
"Engadget. why can't we have a non apple day."
"I for one...", "Doom", "blend", "Crisys" etc
Will this do?
(B.t.w. JOHN why be you private. have you something to hide?)

How dare someone who isn't apple produce a pocket sized touch screen device, before the iphone/ipod touch these devices did not exist, anyone who makes, buys or looks at such a device shall incur the wrath of steve Jobs.
ryan @ Mar 6th 2008 9:13AM
Frankly, I think this stuff needs to look more like Apple stuff. It looks ten years old already.
Jeff @ Mar 6th 2008 11:43AM
word.
...and those icons are just horrible. looks like someone just discovered the "emboss" option in photoshop 3.0. yikes.

"yet another touchscreen PMP"
I for one am sick of all these touchscreen devices, they certainly outnumber devices that use buttons instead.
"but we've certainly seen oodles of PMPs that look mighty similar to its latest"
This is also kind of annoying, instead of having a touchscreen that covers most of the device why can't companies put a tiny sqaure touchscreen in the corner?
fred @ Mar 6th 2008 9:33AM
"but we've certainly seen oodles of PMPs that look mighty similar to its latest."
Because we all know Apple patented the rectangle and a touch screen device.
Did you guys learn nothing from the debacle that took place yesterday?
Philippe @ Mar 6th 2008 9:57AM
@fred
You mean the MP3 licensing issue, right?
Raheem @ Mar 6th 2008 10:25AM
Yeah Phillipe, I heard Apple were buying the name "MP3" as well. So going forward all MP3 players have to be referred to as "That which formerly played MP3 but still plays them but is now called MPFree" players. Curses.
jman315 @ Mar 6th 2008 11:42AM
the word "apple" isnt even in this post anywhere.
so shut up
Jeff @ Mar 6th 2008 11:41AM
"Because we all know Apple patented the rectangle and a touch screen device."
er, no one mentioned Apple, and i don't even think that Engadget was insinuating that at all this time...
there ARE oodles of PMPs that look exactly the same as this one.
you turning that into some kind of Apple thing is, i think, just letting your apple hatred get the better of you. Let it go.
fred @ Mar 6th 2008 12:54PM
You two really need to stop acting so naive.
Of course that was the insinuation they were making. It is the one they make every time they see a chance to try to make it seem like everyone is just coping from their favorite company.
Other than Apple fanatics, no one is so stupid as to think this isn't what is going on.
Oh and the story that is linked from the highlighted text in the write up goes to a story called:
"Sumvision Ice 1000 tries to be an iPod touch, fails miserably"
In which they try to make the same BS insinuation that ever rectangular PMP with a touch screen is just an Apple "knockoff"
