Gamer's erased Xbox 360 story comes to a happy close
Like they say, all's well that ends well -- and that's certainly true in the case of a gamer named Nathaniel. If you'll recall, the Xbox 360 owner had sent his very personalized console into Microsoft for repairs, making very clear that the signed and drawn-on system had great sentimental value to him... which the technicians in Redmond promptly ignored. After the console returned to him wiped clean of the aforementioned "value," it seemed like all hope was lost. Luckily, the kind souls at Bungie have taken it upon themselves to try and right the wrongs perpetrated in this case, and have mailed Nathaniel a super-ultra-mega awesome package, featuring a Legendary Edition helmet signed by most of the Bungie studio staff, the soundtrack disc signed by Martin O'Donnel, a jacket, t-shirt, limited edition wireless controllers, and much, much, much more. Hit the read link to get the full story, and check out Nathaniel's thanks to the gaming community and Bungie.

It's a christmas miracle!!!
If it is then I would be damn pissed of for being 2 months LATE!
Where can if find the jacket
Good job Bungie. I'm glad for Nathaniel. Enjoy it dude.
Now that nathaniel has his helmet back...I can sleep easier tonight.
I would petition Bungie to unlock Recon Armor too. It would be the icing on the cake.
Hey, beggars can't be choosers.
My 360 just broke(again) I wish Bungie felt sorry for me and gave me all that cool stuff.
Stop trying to freeload.
What does Bungie have ANYTHING to do with your 360 breaking?
Go send it in to Microsoft for warranty repairs.
These day's I'm closer to four oh than I am to three oh, and I do remember when similar customer care and respect was a lot more common... but I can not remember anything nearly as awesome and down-right commendable as Bungies stellar response to a carpy situation. Bungie, you have my loyality and all the free word of mouth advertising I can give. If you've ever read the management book "Raving Fans", this is EXACTLY what they were talking about.
Kudos
Go Bungie and the rest of the Microsoft team! Did you see all the accessories that Nathaniel got? He deserves them. :D
and the squeaky wheel gets the grease once again.
I do PR and communications as a living and let me tell you, Bungie did the absolute BEST thing the could have in this whole situation. Not only does it show that Bungie is a company that respects its fan-base and consumers, it will go to great lengths to protect them. Goon one on ya Bungie! Textbook ! (I know the PR guys must be watching the comments. Whoever did all this needs a raise STAT!)
So awesome. :)
Wow, that is just damn cool.
One Word
*** Ebay ***
XD
if he wanted money..he would have just sold his 360 with all the sweetness
Screw this! Where is my SDK news????
hahaha
i'm laughing because..that's a joke
..for all those people who didn't get it
=)
that was heartwarming, i can now go sleep with a warm fuzzy feeling, Go Bungie!
If more companies were like Bungie, the world would be a much better place to live in.
I just wish they were multi-console platform developers as well, esp. since they started out on the Mac (but perhaps the games would suffer as a result, I'm just waiting until ~November to get the new version of the hardware, although I might break down and just buy the elite version after I get the HDTV sometime in the next couple months that I've been saving up for... screw paying off student loans).
lol, I also love the "do not erase!" written along with the signature on the soundtrack.
Wow I remember the original story and how some people doubted it was even real or a stupid thing to do. Well if that's true this guy just stupided his way into some sweat swag =).
luckey bastard
I wouldn't exactly call him lucky considering the original story, but it is an awfully cool outcome.
Spoiled son of a bit*&! He should of gotten a certificate for a new Playstation 3, and so continue the secret war against Microsoft. Vengeance shall be ours!
Christmas probably never felt as good as opening that box...
I'm glad Bungie defected from microsoft. I know old Billy wouldn't of gone through all of this trouble. I wish I got signed copies of windows for every time it crashed and fucked up my P.C or external hard drives... Then I would sell them on the black market of course.
for some reason i figured that Bungie might do an honary statue to nathian in the the virtual work of Halo, Like 117, or make some type of weapon called the Nathain (which would erase your high score records :P , or evaporate enemies instead of killing them)
Hooray for everyone, if Microsoft could only make a reliable Xbox 360 then this wouldn't be a story.
Wow! I knew there was a reason i loved bungie!
GO BUNGIE!
halo is the best game i have ever played. cant wait till i get a better computer so i can play Halo 2. =P
Does nobody think that these technicians saw an xbox covered in signitures, which will probably be worth a good amount of money somewhere, and just swapped it over for another plain one? They could of swapped the hard drives to make it seem like it was this guys still?
No, because the rest of us bothered to read the (previous) story.
Engadget was nice enough to link to it for you, but just in case you can't find it: http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/gamers-tale-takes-xbox-repair-woes-to-new-levels-of-sadness/
And this time around, READ. :)
Ah, what a fool I am. Thanks for the link, I take back my previous comment :)
What if he doesn't even like Halo??
Yea. He despised Halo, yet has a console with a huge friggin Master Chief along signatures from developers of said game. Yea. Its clear he didn't like Halo.
Did you ever see his original Xbox360?!?
Did you ever see his original Xbox360?!?
Whoops sorry, just a few minutes too late and a double post. Yikes that's strikes 1 and 2.
This is amazing Bungie!!!.. I wish Konami did the same thing by releasing all the Metal Gear Gear stuff here in the states and not only in Japan. Funny thing..the bigger sales are in NA and Europe, and we get the crap..especially Europe.. Props to Bungie..
I wish Konami would release the japanese version in America of DDR.
I hate playing the licenses.
The technicians aren't in Redomond, Engadget people....
The folks at Bungie have always been very much supportive and focused on their plans. This simply proves it even more! Way to go Bungie!
bungie rocks. i’ve never seen a company so in touch with their fan-base before. very very cool.
Bungie people have awesome Sharpies :]
Waay to go Bungie!
Microsoft better be sending this guy a fully tricked out Halo Edition 360... Ya hear?
Hes Selling That Helmet On Ebay

Either Nathaniel was trying to be a greedy s.o.b. or somebody was trying to pull a fast one, but this helmet showed up on ebay for a short time. The seller took down the listing. Maybe their $5000.00 asking price was a bit much.
