MPIO intros V10 touch screen-based PMP
MPIO's many PMPs may not always turn heads, but it looks like the company has done alright for itself with its new V10 player, which boasts a 3-inch WQVGA touch screen display and some all around decent specs. That includes 8GB of storage (with an SD card slot for expansion), an FM tuner, TV output, and support for just about every audio and video format you could ask for, with Windows CE 5.0 serving as the basis for it all. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but you can catch a glimpse of it in video form by hitting up the link below.

Looks nice. tempting!
Lets start a fresh guys. if anyone comlains that it looks like an iphone or starts telling us how wonderful apple is i will hunt you down and hit you with a meatspace fist.
y3k.nik @ Mar 7th 2008 11:41AM
nah... I dont think it has large enough icons, let alone wiggling ones!
E71 @ Mar 7th 2008 12:10PM
I still don't feel tempted. Insufficient storage and Windows CE powered -- don't get me wrong, I love Windows Mobile, for my phone/pda but a custom linux-based OS should be powering it instead.
Someone please release a nice & powerful 100GB+ PMP with 720p+ x264 MKV + AC3 support already!

@ E71
Have you heard of the Cowon A3. It support all those things you want (I forget capacity though).

@E71
I think a laptop would satisfy your spec requirements... :)

Don @ Mar 7th 2008 11:48AM
Yeah... right... even the Windows Mobile phone devices that were out for 5 years before the iPhone, right?
I'm assuming you were being sarcastic...

@Don
Relax chief...I'm sure he was being sarcastic.

Sadly the rest of the UI is crap. Pretty face, ugly inside.

My LG Viewty boasts all the features mentioned in the above article plus it's a phone and a camera to boot.

gfar @ Mar 7th 2008 5:04PM
They need to make one of these with built in GPS, WiFi, phone, 3G, a browser, push mail on exchange, calendar/contacts/tasks, 3.2mp camera, and the ability to jump into Windows CE at one's leisure.

Sooner or later people are going to have to step back and realize: touchscreen is the way to go nowadays. Its not really new, buts its recently been brought into the limelight thanks to Apple. Now that people know about, its what they want. Apple didn't make touchscreen, Apple doesn't own touch screen, Apple just showed people how cool touchscreen was. As such, any devices following the iPhone, unless blatantly so, are not "iphone copycats" or "iphone knockoffs". That's like saying Corn Pops are a knockoff of Corn Flakes.

Anyone noticed the GUI uses a guitar pick?
