Knowing how rampant the Apple rumor community can get, we try not to stir the pot too feverishly, but iLounge has made a bizarre little discovery that we thought you might like to see. Apparently, it's already possible for iPhone / iPod touch
developers to create pages in iTunes offering content to limited groups of users. While perusing these pages, they apparently stumbled upon the Education First Educational Tours page, where international travel tour registrants can download TourCast audio and video content. Strangely, an odd, almost
Zune-like device can be seen in the corner of the graphic for this page bearing the Apple logo. Could this be some wild slip? Is what we're looking at a rendering of a new iPhone or touch device, or is this some random mockup meant to suggest a "general" Apple product? We're strongly,
strongly leaning towards the latter, though maybe Jobs let one slide through the cracks this time. See the full view after the break.

it matches the look of the rest of the apple line right now, such as the imac, so it looks 100% real. I would expect to see this as the next iphone.

Um it looks almost the same as the current itouch/Phone. A little more square and awhile "home" button section but big deal. Honestly I HOPE this isn't a new design as it seams kinda lame with little change over the last gen.
How much are they supposed to change? It's a screen in rectangular shape. You want them to add a juicer or something? Maybe a waffle iron?
I want them to give me the ability to change the song without having to take it out of my pocket and look at it everytime I want something else.
They did that with the headphones.
They already gave you a way to change the song without taking it out of your pocket (iPhone only). Just double click the microphone. A single click will pause/resume or answer/end a phone call but a double click will skip to the next song. Reading the manual FTW.

It just seems that this site would have nothing to focus on if the iphone were not around. Guess I need to find an unbias site. Also, I could get behind the iphone if it did 3G and wasn't so "trendy" for a so-so device. You could throw the Apple icon on a turd and people will buy it...amazing.

The proportions are wrong for it to be a phone device. The width to height ratio would be either too wide for a pocket, a requirement for any phone, or the screen would be too compressed for a touch screen.
It looks like a brushed aluminum case with a screen-- almost as though it were an iMac with the wrong proportions.
Too much effort is going into the iPhone SDK to not have multiple platforms take advantage of the software.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned what seems to be the most obvious explanation. Apple was working on the iPhone for three years before it was finally released, and they were making changes to it pretty much constantly the whole time. I'd say it's very likely that it's a picture of an earlier iPhone prototype that didn't make it.
You have my vote. It just doesn't look like an Apple design (at least a finished one).
I have a new theory -
this may be the way Apple is checking out design tendencies in the market. They post some mockup, and nobody likes it, so they come up with a different design.
We'll see where this leads.

That's a photoshopped zune 80 screen. I've got mine next to the screen right now and it's identical. Square under screen with rounded edges on the cover plate. It's just like a zune screen. Look for yourself.

You said it yourself. DEVELOPERS can create the pages, and that sure looks like a non-Apple made page to me... The EF people are just stirring up shiz or have a dev that reads the tech blogs.

I mean, this could probably be a mockup...MOST likely it won't be a final product because I'm sure even with their own designs they tweak the smallest thing. I could see my self using that though as is... the screen looks wider width wise while vertical. It does in fact look like the zune but it doesn't matter cause the screen is bigger and it's apple =]
This is clearly the rumored PDA-like tablet. The simple reason is the proportions of the home button and the device.
No, it's not docked. This designed is heavily based on the iMac facade, which has a black overlay atop the metallic enclosure.
