Nyko's rumbling Zero Wireless PS3 controller goes on sale
Over a year (yeah, really) after this thing was originally announced, Nyko has finally slid the final piece in place in order to offer up the rumbling, bumbling Zero Wireless PS3 controller to end users. Granted, the version hitting shelves as we speak does include rumble, but since you've waited this long, you're probably better off getting the real deal when it lands in April -- for $5 less. Still, those who actually prefer 3rd party kit can look forward to being $59.99 poorer and receiving 25 hours of play on a full charge, LED-backlit buttons, "heat-dissipating aluminum panels (saywha?)," and your choice of black, white or silver.

Comes with built in ugly design too....
maybe it's just the picture, but they look ENORMOUS! they remind me of the first xbox controllers, before the came out with the s-type...
the sixaxis is Tiny in some of OUR hands. It feels like a madcatz micro controller. It(6xs) gives me hand cramps and alot of pain. Bigger IS better. ( The 6xs is a few mm smaller than a ps2 ds2) IT is NOTICEABLE!
@sooper
i don't like those tiny things either. i actually very much prefer the s-type from the xbox and the 360 controllers, but the pic of these makes it look like they're the size of my rather bulbous head!
Yeah, this controller is.. um.. nice
I loved the first gen xbox controllers, then again, I have huge hands. Playing most handhelds (especially the clam-open Gameboy) was torture at times.
Sexy not included?
rank me low, but i like it

I'm buying one this Friday, bringing it back the day the DualShock 3 comes out(within 30 day guarantee). That way I get to test this out and then just get the real deal. Sorry, but that's how it's going down.
Return fraud is COOL!
Or you could just purchase the Dual Shock 3 from Ebay for $55-60 using buy it now
DS3 is a good controller, feels a bit more solid and the weight is better than the non rumble controllers which just feels like there is nothing there for £30!
Hey man Oh well I never got it but pre ordered a DS3 instead in nice pearly white. Justice has prevailed yet again. Your comments had nothing to do with it, it was price. the nyko's at my local EB are $20 more than the DS3.
And here I thought $55 for a wireless controller from a reputable company like Sony was expensive.
It's not ugly is just rough and tough. I can see those things you know...
If they would just move the thumbsticks I might have actually bought this.
Firstly, I had the PS2 one, and I can really say the materials used in its construction are far better than the plastic-y first party controllers. Has Engadget actually used these controllers?
test comment, the system seems to be broken
Is anyone else getting their password reset?
Sometimes the commenting system won't budge for me. Next hour it runs sweet as a nut.
"heat-dissipating aluminum panels" to keep your hands nice and hot during those extended gaming sessions
*shakes head* That looks painful. Honestly, the Sixaxis/Dual Shock controllers are great. I would never buy anything else for my PS3 unless I could somehow get my 360 controllers working with it. Those are the best controllers I have ever used, the wireless are. If I could use my Wireless 360 controllers on my PS3, I might be prompted to use it as more than a media center. (No, I did not buy it. Came free along with 6 Blu-Rays with my 58" 1080p Sylvania DLP set. Jeez do I love that thing)
Just ask BenHeck!
So.. this doesn't have the motion sensitivity, it's not first party, and it costs more than the first party controller with more functionality?
It has all the functionality of the Sixxaxxisxxxxx and has concave rather than convex triggers, which is what sold me. And Amazon has it for $5 less than the Sony controller. It's about the size of the 360 controller, which I find more comfortable to use.
No it doesn't have all the functionality of the sixaxis. It cannot turn the PS3 on.
Also the feedback I've read about it is that the analog sticks have lag and the d-pad is loose in the housing.
I love Nyko and have had several of their controllers but I will not be buying this one unless it has ALL the same functions as the sixaxis and also the L2 and R2 buttons are set back so you can rest your middle fingers on them and your index on the L1 and R1 at the same time comfortably.
Again, I ask...What is the huge appeal of force feedback for there to be so much coverage(and seemingly so much desire) for a rather pointless control feature?
Or is there really that large of a dearth of news for the PS3? :P
Who would buy this ugly piece of c**p!!!!. Shame on them to design something this ugly for a console so beautiful
the ps3 is beautiful?
I guess things are very subjective :p
Why did you sensor the word "crap"?
DAMMIT I'm always getting tpyos.
I meant "censor".
Enough of your tpyos!
It looks like a cross between a toaster and an electric grill
I'd like to know of a prettier gaming console, not made of cheap plastic (Ahem XBOX360) @tekdroid
I wasnt sure if they moderate for such words @mushrooshi
Ergonomics not included.
Ergonomics not included.
Omg its an abomination of god!! oh and we thought the boomerang concept was horrible...lol
Probably designed on a PS1. I mean, look at those "curves".
Russian utilitarian styling included.
Holy 80s Batman!
But I don't think you can beat the DualShock controller, it's just perfect (for me, at least).
When's Logitech gonna put rumble in their Cordless Precision controller. That would be the ideal PS3 controller.
I held one of these earlier tonight, and it stunk. The metal panels fit poorly, cut into my hand, and were cold to touch. The D-pad was crap, and nearly fell off of the thing. The bottom side was all sharp angles, and felt crap. The only good thing I could say about it was the change to ACTUAL trigger-style L2/R2 buttons, and the amount of accessories that came with it (AA battery pack, rechargeable battery pack, USB cable). All in all, FAIL. I'll pick up the real deal in a month, thanks.
Was having a party and picked one up so I could have four players. Was skeptical but darn I really like this controller. Very comfortable for me (I have big hands) and the vibration was great.
