Looks crappy but at that price it'd be tough to complain.
It looks a bit cheap too :-D.
But feature-wise, it seems pretty decent. I just don't like that chrome border around the screen. A totally flat surface might have looked nice since its touch-screen.
Those headphones look like they would fit into an iPhone. :)
The headphone jack shown is a standard 3.5mm miniature. I don't own an iPod but most consumer musical devices these days use this port.
I don't have one either, but I think I read somewhere (prob not on Engadget, since it was informative news...)that the iphone jack is extremely recessed, therefore limiting the aftermarket headphoes that can be used with it. Not that Apple is trying limt its customers freedom of accessories or anything. They wouldn't ever do that. Especially for *gasp* money!
Horizontal positioning. Touchscreen? Total iPod KIRF Knockoff.
What's wrong Engadget? You losing your touch? ;-)
And its rectangular too.. Apple INVENTED the rectangle!!!!
They're lucky they didn't make it black.
I bought a Support Plus SP-PMP51C a year ago and have been pleasantly surprised time and again. A simple firmware upgrade boosted the functionality even further. For about the same price you get 20GB instead of 2GB, but no e-book reader, although it can show text documents. You get voice record, FM radio, camera (still and video), divx, more.

What's with these companies and their huge screened PMP's with only 2GB or 4GB (or even 1GB) storage? Are they out of their mind?
Storage is the most expensive manufacturing cost they have for devices like this which is why you don't see huge storage in devices that small companies produce at this price point. The expansion slot in my opinion makes it just as useful since you can get some good storage in MicroSD (assuming they support HC in this device which isn't mentioned) 4GB chips run $20 bucks and 8GB ones run $50. Carry three of them in your wallet for video, music and e-books/games and you pretty much have all the space you need...I like expansion versus permanent space myself...it's the one feature I wish the big players had but that would kill their biggest selling point to upgrade.
This thing would look great if it was completely brushed aluminum look with no chrome as a side note with the brand name on the back instead of the front.
I wonder how well the SD card slot is integrated into the player in these things. If its anything like the Zen or the Sansa, I'll do without the hassle.
It's a stereo mini jack, and lotzosushi is referring to the iphone jack being recessed into the body, requiring a very thin adapter who's body can fit into the recession.
