Ham, there could be an issue with Verizon coming to any franchise agreements in your town. I live upstate in Orange County and Verizon is due to hit my town next after they hit the city of Newburgh, can't wait!
Have you tried any 3G/EVDO connections? I only had dialup, and overpriced satellite also. I am using Sprint, mainly because I despise Verizon, but either one is a good alternative. With a decent antenna and/or a booster, you can have great speeds, plus take the net with you when you go anywhere.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
ah damn. i live in new york and can't even get fios yet. when the hell are they gonna get around to this?!
I live on the edge of Dallas and can't get DSL, only dial-up and over-priced satellite.
Where in NY do you live? If it's in NYC, don't hold your breath, will probably never make it.
@prey521
