Depends on your neighborhood. In some areas, people are VERY strict about other dogs poopin on their lawns. What's a hick to do? Get down to business. Also notice how he hunched over. He was probably going to shoot an angry dog about to attack his prize smell hound.
This person make a lot of sense. No-one needs a sub-machine gun for 'protection'.

I was out getting the mail a few nights ago and this big-ass cougar strolled down the street.Hell yes, I'll take two.
