DIY contraption takes post-it notes paperless
Truth be told, Audiovox has already perfected the digital post-it note with the DPF711K, but if you're all about flexing that DIY muscle and giving everything your own personal touch, we've little doubt that you'll prefer this iteration. Granted, this isn't the simplest of projects we've come across, but if you can handle a fair amount of soldering and aren't too bad at following directions, you may actually be able to pull it off. Quite simply, the resulting product enables users to input text via fingertip onto the dark pad shown above, and whatever you scribble in appears on the makeshift post-it note. Hit up the read link for more details -- or, you know, just jot down a note to check it out later.

i wonder what the person was thinking when this DIY come about..
"let me see i need to write on something on for my spouse to read when im not here, hm... a post it is too cheap, a white board is cliche.... ah yes i will invent an electronic device which will be capable of doing thins

I hope that one of the notes doesn't read, "Take out the trash". Somebody may *accidently* throw this one away.

the $175 price tag (that you didn't mention) is a little off as he lists the micro controller for $99. if you do this sort of stuff you could cobble together something like this for about $20.
then again, for $20 OR $175 you could just get a used palm pilot and it would be smaller+cleaner+easier.
bigger screen...

I plan to create my own iteration of this by mounting a few rare earth magnets to the rear of an etch-a-sketch and mounting it to my fridge.

I plan to build my own iteration of this by adding a rare earth magnet to each corner of an etch-a-sketch and mounting it on my fridge.

Wow a $175 to do something a 1 cent post it note could do. Amazing!

So once you've written 17,500 notes it's practically paid for itself!! And saved paper!

I'd rather spend 7 hours being productive than trying to solder a contraption that would save me $20
Tony the Troll @ Mar 12th 2008 12:43PM
I'd need about 50 of these things.

This reminds me of that SNL commercial from the 90's of Mac Postit notes.

It was a silly idea then and it's a silly idea now. Hilarious video though.

Isn't the upside of the post-it note that you can take the note and put it anywhere. This just seems like an electronic white board with trademark infringements.
What a dumb pos.
