Nike's SportBand ready for April launch?
Make of it what you will, but Germany's own Mac Life has apparently grabbed hold of a few more details concerning that SportBand we saw sashay into the FCC's database late last month. Reportedly, the unit isn't meant to replace the Nike+iPod system; rather, it's an alternative for runners who'd prefer not to have earbuds in and a DAP on their person when logging their treks. As expected, time, speed, distance and calories will all be tracked, and each run can be captured and stored on the outfit's website after you thumb a ride back home. We're told to expect said device in April for €59.95 ($93), but only time will tell if that's an accurate assertion (and true worldwide).

Track season already started... Little late for me guys...
STOP PRESS: Not all human activity takes place in the USA. Indeed, for those in the southern hemisphere, this device looks set for release three months ahead of their track season. Perfect.
Price of Nano: $149 - $200. For 50 bucks more you can play music as you run. I think this is great for alot of people that don't listen to music as they work out and want to use this Nike technology. I was actually looking forward to getting this thing but for $93... I expected this thing to be cheaper.
I'm still waiting for the Nike+ to work with my iPhone. I may buy this instead. Still run with my iPhone for work reasons but still be able to track my runs.
$93 for a wireless pedometer monitor? For $120 you can get a GPS watch that is much more accurate. Does it at least monitor heart rate as well?
Correction: $93 for a NIKE BRANDED wireless pedometer monitor
Oh, I guess it's worth it then.
You are missing half the point of the Nike + system. The Nike + website is great for tracking workouts , set goals and so on. Definitely one of the best things about the system. I've used it for 18 months, and it's great for staying motivated.
my Timex GPS has software for Windows that I can upload info from my GPS and HR monitor, including distance, heart rate and elevation, so I can track all my workouts too, although I'm sure the Nike website looks a lot better, plus you can get to it from anywhere. Pretty sure Garmin has similar software as well...
does it have an external speaker?
Kind of wished Nike would make some for Zunes and other PMP's. They look awesome.
This thing is going to look swanky right next to my hospital discharge band.
@steven: LOL! i was thinking the exact same thing! $100 bucks for something that looks like I just got out of the hospital!
testing
It's like a Zen Stone glued on a plastic strip.
I tried it today at store and was so impressed I bough it! Only £40.00
