Hummer H3 converted into remote controlled vehicle
After this, you'll never have the same mental image when hearing "remote controlled car" again. Ever. Resident engineer and all around madman Dr. James Brighton took a break from his rigorous teaching duties at Cranfield University and whipped up a RC Hummer H3 -- as in, the man converted an actual Hummer H3 into a remotely controlled toy. Amazingly, the conversion was completed in just a month, and it's reportedly able to "climb a 407-millimeter vertical wall, traverse a 40-percent side slope and operate in up to 610-millimeters of water." Hit up the read link for a few more images of this guy having the time of his life.

My mental image of remote controlled cars still is when they raced (and crashed) three of them in top gear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQVH5rrqkFY
What good is a remote controlled car if you can't make it fly off a ramp?
damn...just when i thought my usb controlled car was cool

Those photos son't prove anything. Show a video or photos of the internals that are used for the radio control. I'm sure a lot of PC work was installed to get this to do what the article says. Otherwise, its a clever, but early April "Fools" charade.
610mm = 24 inches. I guess he cheaped out and did not get the HumVee with the snorkle and water proffing that this can do like 5 feet of water (at least the H1 could)
Remote controlled vehicles are nothing new. Ever hear of 9/11?
so where's the part where he orders the Hollywood stunt driving remote control vehicle conversion kit?
alternatively
is this what poser "off-road" vehicle owners aspire to do? because he can't drive like that himself, he wants to remotely drive his vehicle and avoid all the nausea inducing motions of the crap suspension on a stock hummer product?
If you have a hummer product, it should be used for the purpose it appears to be designed for, not your daily driver to and from work, into the city centre from the suburbs.
From what I've seen happen to many RC controlled projects, I hope the transmitter/receiver combo this guy has chosen doesn't hiccup and pin the gas pedal down.
and finally
Because KITT shoulda been a firebird!
This looks fake. There's nothing to indicate that this H3 is in fact R/C other than a douchebag standing next to it with a remote control. Also, if you look closely at the first pic, you can make out what looks like a woman's head in the lower right corner of windshield crouched down. Show me a video and show me the interior and I'll believe it.
