Guitar Grip gives DS owners the means to rock out
Good news, DS owners! You too will soon be able to shred just like those kids with stay-at-home consoles -- sort of, at least. According to a first look over at Video Games Zone, the summer-bound Guitar Hero on Tour title can be really enjoyed with the aptly-named Guitar Grip. As you can see above, it is limited to just four buttons, but nevertheless, it allows users to hold the DS upright and tap the buttons of the peripheral -- which is suitably fitted into the GBA slot -- and strum the touchscreen to take care of the pickin'. Sure, it's a far cry from wielding a full-fledged axe, but it's not too shabby for shredding on the run. Check out a smorgasbord of pictures and a promo video in the read link below.

that's cool, need to find where i put that DS now.
Yeah, but how much??
I'm sorry, I'm still laughing at the first person I see playing this on the Metro.
reminds me of an accordion for some reason.
>> "I'm sorry, I'm still laughing at the first person I see playing this on the Metro."
Ha-ha, that loser's having fun!
From that video, it looks like it's ONLY for lefties. I mean, you're not going to have to properly strum, so you want all the co ordination in your left hand.
win
What no Hard or Expert? Talk to me when you get that orange button in there.
Thats what I first thought. Then I realized it doesn't look lefty friendly either.
phil, its probably lefty friendly. turn it over, reverse the screens.
@Marshak
You strum with the touch screen so that wouldn't work. But I'm sure they would have a lefty mode where you just put it upside down.
SO I'm suppossed to hold my DS on its side...
...push the buttons...
...use the stylus and ...
...still be able to see what's happening on screen?
...without dropping it?
I finally get the edge with the third arm!
I think you have to hold it from behind the unit and the peripheral has a camcorder type strap so you only need one hand to press side buttons and one hand free to swing the screen.
Yup. I was correct. Reading the article:
"It covers pretty much of the handhelds back. It also has a strap for your hand to assure a good hold and enough freedom for your fingers to rock on!"
So it sounds ok. It's only compatible with DS Lite.
Who else thinks that looks really uncomfortable to play?
Looks pretty comfortable and easy to play, read the article
Wow, what a great design. Adding for buttons to the side of a Nintendo DS really makes it look and feel like a guitar.
Cut the crap, it should've been called Keyboard Hero. Or Retard Hero.
Well, that wouldn't be a new game at all. You've been playing Retard Hero in career mode for some time now, haven't you?
Yeah you're right, couldn't beat your high score though.
Low IQ thread of the day.
Well, the Jerk Store called, and they're running out of you.
"What's the difference? You're their all-time best seller!"
"Oh yeah? ...Well I had sex with your wife!"
That's what SHE said!
Wow, that's brilliant.
Ohh... That trailer is horrible too. If I see anyone playing on his DS in public like that, I will rock his face. Permanently.
I'm sure tough guy.
I spoke too soon...
dude name is.....tubetop.
for once, I can say this and mean it
epic win
They should have made an Accordion Hero with that design... or maybe Trumpet Hero... it would be awesome seeing people blowing into the Mic on the tram while holding their Wii like an instument AND trying to see the display. That would almost be less dorky than this.
I'm a huge fan of Guitar Hero/Rock Band... but the DS with a camcorder grip is no fake guitar...
thats awesome!
Dammit. I got all excited when I saw the pic and thought that they had finally made my amazing concept game "Button Hero".
Suffice to say, I was crushed by dissapointment.
Wow. Even more plastic crap to swamp our modern, material-obsessed lives. But perhaps not as bad as those utterly pointless Wii-mote sport attachments which will one day end up in the oceans or landfill.
BTW, doesn't the DS have a F*CKING TOUCHSCREEN?
"BTW, doesn't the DS have a F*CKING TOUCHSCREEN?"
...you're kidding right? RIGHT?!
Yeah! Technology is evil and all you sheep who buy it are sheep! Wait a minute, where am I again?
What about the lefties?
Rotate it perhaps?
Shouldnt the buttons, from top to bottom be blue yellow red and green instead of the other way around? Would be confusing to play with the way its set up now.
so...no love for the early adapters huh?I'm still stuck with the ds phat and have no intention to pay more to upgrade just for one game. And how bout a track listing?
wow, you sound more like a late adopter IMHO. If you are an early adopter, where is your DS Lite?
isnt an early adapter one who gets the first thing they come out with?that's what i was implying.
I agree, I also only have a DS regular. But my slot-1 doesn't work anymore anyway, so whatever.
And Scooter, early adopters got a DS before the new revision. Hence he is a (comparatively, at least) early adopter.
On a long road trip with a friend. This would definitely be fun. So it looks gimmicky and foolish, what Nintendo product doesn't?
Sweet, I fail at the fifth button anyways.
Link to the trailer of this bad boy in action....man that kid is a tool.

so what about starpower?
wow that trailer made me want to choke that young man with his own scene scarf.
Accordion Hero!
I've gotten super duper bored of all my DS games, although Metriod Prime Hunters is still killer.
