XPERIA X1 white paper reveals yet more details
There certainly hasn't been any shortage of XPERIA X1 details to emerge since the desirable device was first announced back in February, but those still looking for something to whet their appetite until they can actually get their hands on one can now get their fix courtesy of a new white paper released by Sony Ericsson, which packs a bundle of interesting new tidbits. That includes details on the pre-loaded XPERIA panels, along with word of DLNA-compatible media sharing via ActiveSync or WiFi, details on the video recording options (30fps MPEG-4 and 30fps H.263, both VGA), and confirmation that the only browser included will be Internet Explorer. Also according to the white paper, you can expect Google Maps and Java ME to be installed by default, and you'll get Exchange Direct Push email built-in, with setup wizards provided for Gmail, Yahoo, and Live Hotmail. What's more, as Inxperia points out, there is also a noticeable lack of 1700MHz support, although we doubt that'll be a deal-breaker for too many folks.

I wouldn't worry about T-Mobile 3g, you would need T-Mobile signal to start with.
Whoops, i thought this we'll be my choice for T-Mo USA 3G!
this guys hands are wrinkled up... they couldnt have found a woman to hold this?
Its a rugged man's phone, not an iPhone :P
ill accept it but i don't have to like it!
I actually think it's a smart marketing move. The phone looks muck more sleek and styligh in contrast to that wrinkled hand. It looks fantastic and you also get that "real-feel", that the device is made for real people. That is something the Japanese women, often used in these type of ads, don't manage to do. At all. They are nicer to look at though.
I will agree that this phone is just plain amazing but I sure as hell don't want to know the price. I have a feeling it'll make me dizzy.
This phone will be a flop because it comes with IE Mobile for WM 6.
That would make browsing a pain. I do like the decent resolution though and the fact that I can download a better browser, so I will be buying this phone.
have you used opera mobile? mini?
Is IE Mobile supposed to give me a similar experience to what's on the iPhone? I don't think so.
Anyway, about this phone being a flop. I hope it isn't, it's got a lot going for it .. unless the browser is better than I expect I think its chances are diminished.
See, unlike the iPhone, on Windows mobile you have the option to install your own browser if you don't like the one that comes with it.
And PIE works pretty well on a VGA or bigger display. It's only when you get down to QVGA it is a pain to use.
You do know that you have other options to install when you get the phone right?
I'm saying it will be a flop based on what I speculate the browsing experience will be like. If they do that correct, it can be a hit.
I'm hoping I will be wrong.
But yeah, it's possible it could be a hit.
but can i play Doom on it?
So, what are the chances of us getting this phone on Verizon network?
YEAH! That'll be the day.
none
GSM does not equal CDMA!!!
:o And I thought I was bad!
HTC manufactured the phone by SE's specifications, thats all HTC is doing. SE handles the rest. HTC does take orders too not just make their own phones.

I really really need one =D
My SE P990i is getting old and tired =P
PS!
You're saying that 3G won't work in US (T-Mobile). Will it work in EU?
A-GPS is NOT just for emergency fixes. It can be used to augment the fix time in standard GPS. I have been testing AGPS all week, I've seen that it can allow for a fix in a ~12 second time frame..
People talking about tmo: Tmo hasn't really released any plans for 3G tethering yet, have they??
This thing better work with Tmo 3G, or it's f'n pointless... AT&T will have the standard iPhone, and the iPhone 3G; while Tmo would still be stuck with nothing. That doesnt make ANY sense... then again, nothing with Tmo makes any sense, so I shouldn't be surprised...
bah... if this thing doesnt work on Tmo 3G, then I'm done with their service next November.
pretty sure this'll be coming to at&t round june, julyish
I really like the big display, even the keyboard might be handy altough it adds to the phone thickness! :(
BUT what is it all good for without a decent GUI support?! We should be asking questions like: is there a support for touch navigation in all applicaitons (think iPhone or TouchFlo), do i have to use stylus to get to those tiny Windows menus etc.?
To me, the phone seems to be more about GUI than the hardware these days...
I called SonyEricsson and they informed me that the 1700Mhz will be intact. This white page is misspoken as Clinton would say. They said that it is due to be out this 3rd Quarter around 600 to 700 bucks. Enjoy T-MO customers!!!
