Looks evil!
what the hell do you do with a 25 megapix camera ? you need like a terabite memory card lol
its called professional photography
The MP race needs to die a horrible horrible death and soon. Canon needs to stop this shit. Initial picts from the 12MP XSi suggest that noise in higher ISO picts is worse then on the XTi and part of that can probably be attributed to the larger sensor. There really is no reason for anyone under then the uber high end pro range to need something bigger then a 10MP sensor. Its purely marketing BS because the consumer who is interested in the xxxD and xxD generally thinks that its easy to tell the better device by the larger MP #'s. The MP myth must die.
This reminds me of my desire for a well designed DSLR with an exchangeable back so you can upgrade to better digital backs like with large format cameras. It seems a waste to have to buy a whole new camera because a better sensor come out on the market.
It's about time someone produced a full frame sensor.
"25 Megapixels?!? Now that's large. How many shots can you take?"
I assume that was a joke?
"As a professional photographer, I can't really even consider a Sony due to the lack of true professional level lenses on the Minolta mount."
Fair comment; compared to the catalog on Nikkor and Canon lenses available for purchase or hire, sure. But some nice AF Zeiss glass is starting to appear for the Sony/Minolta mount. Interesting to see if Zeiss extend their current ZF/ZK/ZS slr manual focus lineup to the Sony/Minolta mount, too. Still a long way to go, but getting there.
For a pro photographer wanting to use this sensor, the recently leaked Nikon D3x is a better bet in terms of lens selection.
Note to anyone commenting on looks. This is a display camera, which is why its transparent to show off the goodies inside. A real camerta can't be transparent because, you know, its a *device to capture ligh* which, ideally, comes through the lens and no-where else :)
WoW Sony A900 24.6 megapixel ? Are you printing billboards?
