Sony's Rolly tumbles into FCC, stumps them too
Okay, so after watching this thing bust a move on video, we actually aren't as perplexed by it as we once were, but there's no denying that Sony's Rolly is quite the curious character. Nevertheless, the SEP-30BT (opposed to Japan's SEP-10BT) has hurtled itself into the open arms of the FCC, assuring Americans that the time has almost come. There's nothing too shocking within the 70 (!) page manual, but if you just can't wait for this critter to land at your doorstep, tap the read link below and eat your heart out.

sony rolly...great name

It also boils eggs....
Well, the Sony Grenade-y™ didn't make the cut.
Who wants to take bets as to how long before someone gets stopped and cavity searched at an Airport for carrying around this thing?
Anyone? Anyone?
Has anyone figured out what purpose this device serve beside giving your drunken friends something to play with?
The cat would like it to, I'd guess.
RAAAYYYRR! FFT! FFT!
Its a waterless enema.
Took me a few weeks to figure it out, but basically you stick err in, press go, and it twists your intestines kinda like twisting a wet rag till everything is squeezed out. I think there's a scrapper blade on the side too.
very expensive football
@mike:
You probably laughed during Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans.
wow am i excited to get one of these! Been waiting months for it, pictures/videos driving me crazy over here :|
Gonna be fun bringing this over to my friends houses and what not...hurrrrrrry up and get here!
yeah.. bring it to your friends house, put it on the table, and watch it.. roll.. and.. play music?
Thats exactly right sir!
Plan on putting some sweet tunes on there :D
Anywhere from slow/soft music for the ladies to set the mood
to hilarious songs like Jerky Boys/Weird Al/Standup/etc
to just some good music
Looking forward to it
honestly, you are thinking about buying one and expect ladies to be around you?
Weird Al is funny? This is a toy, not a reality distortion device.
It's so cute! :3
iPod killer! only 7" thick
...but just don't try and take it in your carry on bag at the airport...
this is gonna start an incident just like the MBA at the airport
TSA officer: "I can't Believe it's an mp3 player!"*Insert gasp here*
Owner: Neither can I....
There's plenty of space to wire in a regular little mp3 player and a whole bunch of C4. In fact, I'm guessing there's already a bunch of empty space inside that thing.
I wonder if we can get 10 of these on place all over the room, and all connected to each other, that would truly be living the surrounding music
And synchronised dancing.
So if I play a song by Billy Ray Cyrus, will it line dance?
rofl
and will it break dance to rockit by herbie hancock?
and the FCC can't figure it out either
PAHAHAHAHAHA
cool!!!!

This "joke" is getting old real fast.
Oh, well, at least it's not goatse
I thought the link for "the time" would be a link to all the articles welcoming our new overlords. Oh well.
I, for one, would like to welcome our new rolling, musical overlords. (Who doesn't want musical overlords?)
Sony could seriously use a darker paint for the printing at the back.
its a mini T-800!
www.MyRolly.net :)
no, that is the Rick Rolly. I see how you could confuse them though.
Well, so what is this, Aibo-poop which has speakers? Can it do the robot dance better than Terry Crews?
Btw damn fine idea by Sony.. Hope, it doesn't go the Aibo way..
*Starts doing the robot dance*
Domo aragoto, Mr. Roll-boto...
(taken from the manual) 'Side Lamps = Red: A music file or motion file is damaged. Or, excessive mechanical load has been applied to the player while it is moving.'
Have Sony even seen films such as Terminator or I, Robot? Putting red in a device like this is just asking for trouble. When everyone on this Earth is being tripped up because Rollys have evolved their programming to justify that doing so ensures the survival of mankind, don't be surprised to hear me say 'I told you so!'
any clue when these will go on sale
After reading multiple articles, I still have no clue as to what is the point of this product.
Rolly Rocks!
And I hear from my Sony colleagues in Tokyo that men (more so than expected)are digging it in Japan.
Coming soon to the U.S. We'll keep you psoted at sony.com/news or check out my blog at www.sony.com/electronicsblog.
this is cool :D
i got the jap version... but i can't use the motion editor.... :-(
it only worx on a JAP windows XP/Vista, so i hope that the motion editor from the SEP-30BT als worx on my Rolly (SEP-10BT) much more easy to use :P
