Kodak intros new EasyShare photo frames with Quick Touch borders
It's been a little while since we caught sight of Kodak's last batch of digital photo frames, but the company's now come back for another go 'round with a trio of new EasyShare frames, each of which pack Kodak's newfangled "Quick Touch" borders. That feature lets you scroll though photos simply by sliding your finger along the border, as well as giving you control over all the frame's other functions via the interface pictured above. Apart from that, the frames appear to be pretty standard fare, with the M820 and M1020 models boasting 8 and 10-inch screens, respectively, along with the usual audio and video support, 128MB of built-in memory, and accommodations for all the most used memory card formats. If that's more than you need, you can also opt for the 7-inch P720 model, which hangs on to the Quick Touch border but drops everything but the most basic photo frame features. Look for all three of 'em to start shipping on April 16th, with the P720, M820 and M1020 setting you back $120, $180, and $230, respectively.

Now THIS is one picture frame that seems to have a badass implimentation.
Flashpoint @ Mar 27th 2008 1:40PM
Unless APPLE makes it, the world won't notice.
In fact, this looks like an Apple Product. I wonder when Apple will make a frame that offers multitouch capabilities.
Andrew @ Mar 27th 2008 1:51PM
@Flashpoint - As soon as they add an optical drive to the MacBook Air.
retro77 @ Mar 27th 2008 1:53PM
Why the heck do you gotta turn this into an apple discussion. I hate apples! Especially those green ones!
SkoGoody @ Mar 27th 2008 2:01PM
@Flashpoint:
Those were my 1st thoughts exactly...And honestly, I think it's only a matter of time before Apple releases one of these frame do-dads with the exact same interface as the Photos on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
Realistically...that would be the ideal digital picture frame.
happy_penguin @ Mar 27th 2008 4:55PM
I hope you guys never accuse the Apple fanboys of turning every discussion into something about Apple.

Is that Winnie Cooper?
Smart People Play Tuba @ Mar 27th 2008 2:12PM
Naw, dude. Winnie Cooper is an ugly, whiny b#$%@, especially after what she did to Kevin.

Danica McKellar, on the other hand . . . she's hot. And smart.

Nice! Looking at getting my own digital camera soon. This would definitely be great to pick up alongside it!
Jake @ Mar 27th 2008 1:20PM
Why don't they ever post the resolution of these things? I think Engadget should stop reposting these press releases until they start releasing specs beyond the size of the screen.
Hannes @ Mar 29th 2008 5:58PM
Can't agree more!

Ohng @ Mar 27th 2008 1:27PM
I recently bought a Kodak frame, resolution 800x480. It's great for landscape pictures, and everything else about the frame is good too, but it's horrible with portrait pictures. They're so much more squished than with a competitor's 800x600 resolution.
So I returned it and bought the competitor's feature poor but resolution rich frame.
Mile @ Mar 27th 2008 1:38PM
Wi-fi?
Anthony @ Mar 27th 2008 1:56PM
I agree. The only digital frame I'm going to buy is one that can pull photos off of either flickr or my home network.
Mike @ Mar 27th 2008 2:59PM
Typical. gadget-aware males, all owners of at least one Apple product, think a multi touch digital picture frame would be AWESOME IF APPLE MADE IT.
Here's a news flash: Companies that make digital picture frames don't care about your opinion. The vast, vaaaast majority of these things are sitting on grandma's mantle/shelf/dry sink. Do you really think that grandma cares about touch screens?
Now thanks to you, Apple will release a whole line of multi-touch digital frames, which will debut to deafening applause from the fanbois, but will quietly be retired a year later. Thanks in advance for making my apple stock drop.

Those girls are hot. The red headed one especially. Hmmm... I just realized that marketing execs often use chicks to hock their wares! I wonder why....
rawd @ Mar 27th 2008 4:47PM
Where is the 'start making out' button
Tony Rayo @ Mar 27th 2008 5:19PM
I've never been into digital photo frames, I guess because the limited photos I do have on display are in a special frame. However it is very nice to see this technology improve. Oh man it was so horrid when it came out, reminds me of the videochat over regular phonelines they were trying to push in the 90s. Speaking of which, I saw some of that technology in recent phones here in the US, but it seems to be one way. Just a matter of time before you can have two-way video chats I'm sure.
Greg @ Mar 27th 2008 10:02PM
Jake is right. Why don't we see resolution specs for this thang. Sure the chicks are hot (does it matter) but I've used digital frames before and NONE of them look good because res is too low.
FramDzin @ Mar 31st 2008 3:53PM
Need better feedback than that about the marketing photos. Kodak might be listening.
Jphoto75 @ Feb 10th 2009 1:03PM
That would look great on the desk...pretty cool.
Zuvembi @ Feb 10th 2009 1:55PM
