Major security vulnerability discovered for PlayStation Network, lock up your PS3s
Details are still sparse (and primarily in Japanese), but our Tokyo bureau just let us know that Sony's announced a fairly severe security vulnerability on the PlayStation Network, which would actually allow an attacker to access your account, personal information, and Wallet -- but not your credit card on file -- as well as change your password. Damn. More on this as it develops; in the mean time, keep a close eye on that account.Update: More information is on the US PS3 site. Apparently the issue has been resolved and "security is restored." Thanks, luckydude76.

Ok, lets think about this, we have a terrible ring of death that is comparable to a poltergeist tv or we got a fixable security glitch? I choo choo choose the fix! Carol Anne come into the light and join the secret war against Microsoft!
Everything that is digital is hackable... it might be a tight hole (sounds a bit pervy here) but with enough determination you can penetrate it.
But seriously, there are people out there who are waiting for mod chips and hacked PS3's to come out before they buy em.
There are people out there who want Homebrew for PS3.
There are people out there who want to exploit you, the gamer.
There are people out there who'd just break stuff for the fun of it.
Regardless of their intentions, as long as there's people out there, stuff like this will happen!
What exactly are you driving at?
That'd be me. The person who only cares about what /I/ can do with hardware.
The PS3: a CBE with 256MB of RAM. Games? Who cares!?
...thank goodness firefox 3 uses less memory than the hog that is FF2. That's a life saver.
can you play flash games off the hard drive on a ps3?
ive never tried but always wondered. and i think i prefer the psn to xbox live. psn just needs to find its feat and get more established and it will "pwn" the xbox 360 bgger than "SPACEB";s collection in the years to come
PS3 FTW
An attack! The secret war continues, I ask my brothers and sisters to call to arms!, this threat is real and I ask you my fellow gamers, this is the time to rise against this evil, this venom, this microsoft virus, The war is here, failure is not an option, victory shall be ours! -Resistance is FREEDOM-
is it safe?
playstation network = FAIL
Well it's really sad that someone HACKED MY ACCOUNT and STOLE money from my Credit Card and bought games with MY ACCOUNT on their ps3. Lawsuit pending.....(not against Sony but the Perp that stole from me)
Once you've recovered you account, the games will be in YOUR account for you to play anyway..
Extremely POOR reporting.
The PC PSN store has been compromised NOT your actual PS3.
There IS a difference.
Finally, someone who actually read!
The PC store is separate from the PS3 store, but the fanboys using this to rant don't know the difference.
Yeah, and some people's informations have been changed and looked over.
Where there's a will, there's a way to hack.
Did anyone actually read the article or just read the intentionally misleading Engadget headline. This is to do with the Playstation Network PC STORE. It's nothing to do with a PS3 being hacked.
Negative Sony news from Ryan Block? Who'da thunk it?
I have noticed anytime I see positive news about Sony no matter the product it's almost never from Ryan. I'm not saying he's intentionally being a prick towards Sony. I'm just saying it's a pattern that makes me question any negative post he ever writes about Sony. I get the feeling Sony could invent sunlight and Ryan would be on here yelling that they invented skin cancer also.
love the pic :D
This is why I'm still waiting for them gift cards to finally come out. We've seen the American versions so why are they still not in stores yet? I want the security of knowing I can just go to Walmart and get a card before a big release comes out, like SOCOM in September.
When I saw people's credit card info getting hacked on XBL I decided to go gift car only.
Xbox LIVE FTW!
the very limited pwned edition...
for free
test
I see your problem...you should just sell the PS3 and get a 360!
why not get a 360 insted of the crappy PlaySecurity3
they r soooo much better dumbasses
