no problems for me or anyone I work with... 7290, 8700, 8100, 8300, 8320, 8110, 8800.. rogers in Ottawa.. no problems with other rogers phones either... (I am a rogers retailer and haven't gotten any complaints)
maybe its a network specific problem?

I think it's really funny how people like to bash RIM and BlackBerry. The thing they don't realise is how complex their systems are and how much work go into their systems. When they release a product it's usually 100% reliable and VERY sturdy. As far as iPhone Exchange support obviously people don't realize that the total cost for 500 users on BlackBerry is about $40k as compared to about $140k for MS Direct Push. Now that's just for the back end systems. The cost of an iPhone is much more. Also people don't realize is that the BlackBerry solution was built from the ground up as a messaging and data solution and not a patch job like its competition. The BlackBerry solution also has over 300 intergrated IT security solutions and is capable of fully encrypting all data on the BlackBerry smartphone and fully remote wiping along with other high security policies like require password input and CAC readers. The BlackBerry solution also compresses the data much more than any competition thus reducing data over head on the networks and increasing battery life. This increased compression will be even more noticible once 3G comes out. People who say that they don't need to care or don't worry about security just think of how much information someone could get from your device if they where able to intercept your private conversations and gain access to your personal information. As far as the BlackBerry network being shut down over patent litigation that would never happen way too many people depend on the BlackBerry network including the gov. and RIM has never broken any laws they where just the victims of a VERY flawed US patent system.

Verizon wireless in SoCal - only work/personal email coming through on the blackberry side of the data streem. No messenger svc, google maps, or other non-BES data trafic working. Cell is hit or miss as usual. I'm starting to really dislike BBs.

To clarify - my problems started around midnight Saturday AM and has continued through 9PM PDT. Called VZW Sat 9AM and they said the were aware of a nationwide blackberry outage to which I replied... "oh, another one?" and he said, 'yep'

Using Rogers from Canada and roaming in Las Vegas right now. BES email was working earlier in Toronto and as soon as I landed in LV, roaming either on Cingular or T-Mo, BES email, sync stop working. only thing working is pinning.

Alas! The only serious iPhone rival for mod-ness and sleekness is experiencing operating difficuties.
The Razr was the first, but quickly fizzled. Along came the iPhone and it was like Grunge. But, after the fact, it is remembered that there were powerful concurrent trends and influences such as Achtung Baby and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Both Apple and RIM have incredible psyche-market share and I think Apple could steal all away if they can engineer a iPhone II to look and function just like the iPhone, but have an ultra slim sliding keyboard, ala the AT&T Tilt or any number of other smart phones. That way, corporate, fashion, macgeek and techie would all be fully satisfied. Release the SDK and let a golden age begin.
Of course, RIM has a similar, but lesser opportunity to do the same, because Apple has already created the much loved style of the iPhone: that is intangible. RIM would have to create a 'Style' for its Blackberry, and that would involve uncertainty and risk.
In any event, as a proud owner of the Pearl, I am not experiencing difficulty at the moment, but will check it out now to make sure.

didn't notice anything untoward this weekend with my crack berry. I'm on Verizon and was using it all weekend without any problems.

Mine was down for the last 2 days (email, text message, browser), then worked for a few solid hours this evening, now not working again... sigh...
