BUG+EDU educational discounts unveiled for little hackers
Bug Labs announced in January that it'd be busting out a BUG+EDU program for getting units into the hands of impressionable youngsters, and now that they've sold out of the first crop of units they're getting those educational discounts off the ground. Students (with relevant ID) can now purchase modules at a 10% discount, while K-12 schools and secondary education institutions can buy Bug for 25% off. K-12 schools can also participate in Bug giveaways, while undergrad and postgrad programs can develop coursework in conjunction with Bug -- long story short, some kids out there are going to get themselves some fun edumicatin'.

...... is that braille? Why are the backs of those addons in braille?
Why not?
If it has braille, why have a screen?
You don't need the Screen. I'm sure you can set it to a "Blind Mode", per se, of accessibility, so that you can program it with, quite literally, "read"-outs or help.
Just what I need... kids learning how to attack my MacLab so they can Pwn my G5 MacPro or bring down the server.
Kids are already malicious enough - I've seen classroom servers destroyed because they ripped out the RAID configured drives.
Kids learning to program Java for a powerful & highly configurable mobile embedded device != Hooligans ripping HDDs out of your exposed RAID setup
No need to worry about the kids doing that. I already attacked your MacLab, pwned your G5 MacPro and brought down the server. Oh ya and that MBA BS thing you got, pwned as well!
Why the hell are they allowed access to the servers in the first place!!! You should know after pulling the paper clips out of the iMacs the little bastards shouldn't touch computer until they graduate.
Is there any Link to the discount or to the bug labs site where this news is coming from? All the read links seem to just be adding href= to the current page's URL.
yeah, what exactly is this? the website talks about it as though you already know what it is / does. it just says that kids are the future, yada yada yada, help them learn, yada yada yada, buy it
im assuming it lets people program in java (based on what others said). so why do they snap together? why not just download eclipse? i wish there was a little more info somewhere @_@
any info will be appreciated =D
This is a truly mobile platform.
Basically you have a "core" unit with your contacts, preferences, music, etc. From there you can by "shells".
Some example shells are a car stereo, an mp3 player, a basic phone, a smart phone. You just move the core from which ever you want to use at the time, and also buy only the "shells" you need.
If you search engadget you should be able to find more info.
OH ok, i didnt know what each of the pieces were or what function they served and the website didnt have much info on it.
thats pretty cool
thanks!
