Art Lebedev's Defendius. Because unlocking doors is just a little too easy
Sure there's plenty options out there for those that want quick and easy security measures for their doors, but what about those that like to make everyday activities a challenge? Thankfully, the geniuses at Art Lebedev studios have now come up with a solution in the form of the Defendius door chain, but you better act fast -- we hear it's available for today only.

It's the lock you find in horror movies when someone is being chased. Now they have a reason for not being able to open it.
"This is nuts. I don't understand this..I can't seem to get out of my house."
I have the feeling that this is an April fool's. Look at the tiny screws attaching the chain to the doorframe. A medium-sized man could kick through that in a matter of seconds.
FAIL!!!!
I would say you FAIL at seeing this as a novelty product and not a real security measure.
April fools or not- I'm getting one for my fridge- perfect way to keep my lazy ass from grabbing another hot-pocket. And maybe it would deter me from grabbing another beer if I'm too drunk to open the fridge...
Would be nice for reducing DUIs. Drunks wouldn't be able to make it out.
totally my first thought! Awesome
They almost had me, with those renders... Man that is some good rendering.
haha and I love the color :)
WTF, that's the same picture from Thinkgeek, except flipped and the color's slightly changed. And the doorknobs are changed.
Who is stealing from who here?
no one is stealing. thinkgeek is "selling" art's product. read the description.
hilarious - must sell these things myself!

Is the chain actually long enough to make it to the exit point?
Shouldn't those guys be doing their quantum mechanics homework?
Who needs a lock? Solid walls and a Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device is the way to go.
I miss my companion cube.
I think this protects against unauthorized EXIT.
Unless they mean to deploy this for the purposes of preserving chastity.
I know it's April Fool's day but I would totally get one of those for my house. I think they should make them. After all, they have done it with the 8-bit tie, remember?
One stiff kick will open the door quite nicely, provided the chain is all that's holding the door from opening.
April Fools, sure, but I'd totally buy one. Come on ThinkGeek, do it!
I was soo ready to buy one in silver.
that's brilliant. very funny. :)
I'd totally buy that
Bad April fool's joke, try harder next time.
How bad would that suck to get drunk, hookup with some chick, wake up and realize she is a minger. You try to make a hasty getaway only to find that on the door. HAHA!
I was soooo ready to buy this. I know its April 1st, but this is really kind of cool.
seriously, I have a feeling thinkgeek had this up first, since I saw it extremely early in the morning there and this is a pathetic ripoff. What a totally tool. What happened to creativity and originality?
doh. didn't take the time to read all the thinkgeek description. Though the other stuff ont he front page is better.
Not to be a buzzkill but here's hoping that anyone on the inside of that door is never in a situation where you need to get the hell out ASAP....read: in a fire or if a killer is calling you from inside the house. :P
HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S !!! Y/N?
I would buy that if it were real!
Excellent work Donald. For a second, I thought it was an actual Art Lebedev idea- I was like "wow, this guy is amazing." Great rendering... wish I had one for fun, sigh...
jeffrey dahmer would love this!1
i would buy one...
