Sony unveils BRAVIA W4000-Series LCD HDTVs
Check it: Sony's unloaded a nice foursome today with its all new (but eerily familiar) W4000-Series lineup. Available in 32-, 40-, 46- and 52-inch sizes, the newest members of the BRAVIA family all feature a 1080p resolution, Picture Frame Mode, BRAVIA Engine 2, BRAVIA Sync, XMB, 24p True Cinema, USB Photo Viewer, 178-degree viewing angles, a built-in DVB-T tuner, VGA port and a trio of HDMI connectors for good measure. The 32-incher gets stripped down a bit with the omission of Live Color Creation, a 10-bit panel, PhotoTV HD, and x.v.Color -- all of which are included on the larger models. Unfortunately, Sony's keeping quiet with regard to pricing / availability, but we'd certainly keep an eye out for any strange new shelf inhabitants over in Europe.

does this make my 46" f8 series samsung outdated?, because even if it does i gotta say, being a fan of most sony designs, the samsung definately looks better...

The Samsung F8 series runs circles around the current line-up of Sony Bravia's. Not to mention it's $700 AUD cheaper. I'd be very surprised if the new generation of Sony's can better the F8 Samsungs.

i need confirmation the w4000 family can display 120 unique frames per second from a hdmi1.3 source from a computer.
i need 120 frames per sec in my games (mostly simulations) and i do have that (and more) on my f520r crt.
120hz is the holygrail for both movies and tv and games sources. either that or 240 hz :D

Damn! That 46" is right in the sweet spot!
1080P, 24P, True Color...I'm about to bust an AMEX over that.
Good time to finally dump my 42" rear projection.
Just to think, it's been almost three whole years since I bought the last new TV. And that TV was $1800.

So what's the difference between these and the W3000 series?
Hooterman @ Apr 1st 2008 9:45AM
1000
Peter @ Apr 1st 2008 11:29AM
I hear the new ones are 120 Hz instead of 60 Hz like W3000 which reduces judder during extensive action scenes.

In the US, Sears will be carrying the S4100, V4100, W4100, Z4100 and XBR6 series this year, if I remember right. Prices should be down at least $100 to $200 dollars off the regular prices of the 3000 series in 40 and 46 sizes.
From Sony's website, play with the urls in the format http://129.33.22.12/release/specs/KDL40W4100_mksp.pdf and you should see what you need.

A bit more playing and I found the manual shared for the KDL-32XBR6, KDL-37XBR6, KDL-40V4100, KDL-40V4150 (sub series??), KDL-42V4100 (42 inch??), KDL-46V4100 and KDL-52V4100.

Wait, err, didn't Sony already launch the W5000 according to the "eerily familiar" link? Also the "Whats Coming" Section of TV's states that a Z series is in the pipes, so whats up with Sony not doing any of this X series (again in the link) at their own website?
Something fishy happening in the land of Sony...
Daniel @ Apr 1st 2008 2:25PM
is the xbr seires still ther high end or will be the z series?
