We all know the PS3 has completly turned around and has been outselling the Xbox360 worldwide for 19 weeks straight... This is without Home, without GTA4, without MGS4, without another pricedrop... I don't see a 360 with BluRay having any dramatic effect on things.
Both the 360 & PS3 are both looking really good right now, a simple BluRay add-on won't effect the PS3's side. Sure it'll do good things to the 360 side, but nothing on the PS3
Personally, and this is just my opinion...I think its more a slap in the face to Microsoft to include a BluRay drive in their 360...Thats just me though so dont attack me
Its hard to comment in favor of a company's success without being called a Fanboy on Engadget. I'm suprised they don't have a "Low Ranked, High Ranked, Fanboy Ranked" button to make it easier for the haters.
PS3 is outselling the 360 because 360 came out earlier and everyone who was going to buy it did. Now they want PS3's so they can have their Blu Ray or access to MG4/Crysis/Resistance/Motorstorm/etc. I'm not suprised by this...it actually takes time to save $500 just to spend on a video game console.
I think adding Blu Ray to the 360 as an internal drive will have major financial ramifications for 360. I also think an Add-on drive would be a failure because people wouldn't trust them after being burned by HDDVD.
I don't think much of anyone was "burned" by the HD-DVD drive add-on unless you want to say everyone who bought HD-DVD players were burned as well- which most weren't. There is no reason they would be "scared of being burned" by an add on Blu-Ray drive, because Blu-Ray, until the next format comes out, is the primary format, and there isn't any risk of Blu-Ray going out for a while now.
I love how you mention Crysis, even though it hasn't been announced for release or even confirmed to be PS3 exclusive- only rumored.
The only way you will be ranked lowly for being a fanboy is if you sound, act, and are blind like a fanboy, making statements that only a fanboy would make, much like many of the statements you make.
Oh, and Dan, I highly doubt people will be buying a PS3 for an extended, 40 dollar demo.
Oh, and Zeus, I bought a PS3 specifically for MLB '08, GT5 (and prologue), and MGS4. As far as I know right now that will be the only games I have on PS3. Real console gaming is done on the 360 with its far superior controller and online system.
Yeah, Hooterman, I can understand buying it for a game such as GT5, but Prologue is a ripoff... 40 bucks for an extended demo.
I have no doubt that the PS3 will have some great games in the future, and I will most definitely buy it at some point in time (likely used or refurbished) for them, but I do agree with you, Xbox 360 is superior in the games and online play department, and the controller is definitely the best ever made.
The Xbox *has* been out almost two years longer than the PS3, so most people who want one will most probably have one by now. GTAIV is also coming to Xbox. MGS4, pfft! I'm a lil' bit jealous, but I'm sure I can survive without.
uhm zues:god. $40 demo? you're an asshat fanboy yourself if you simplify and grossly underrate things too. GT5P is one the three reasons I got the ps3 at 60gig when it came out! GT5P (till GT5), bluray, and linux, you ASSHOLE.
Jay Park, but that is, quite literally, what GT5P is- an extended demo. The full game isn't due, for release for another year or so, if I'm not mistaken.
Sorry, but if you bought your PS3 for GT5P specifically, then you wasted your money.

Don't forget Gran Turismo: Prologue! For a lot of people this will be a system seller.

lol, I feel sorry for the poor guy that thinks Resistance or Motorstorm is a system seller.
and stop posting about Crysis, nothing has been announced, and if it does come out on consoles I don't think the 360 will be left out:
