National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest of '08 makes us feel lazy
The last time we got to feeling this crafty was in middle school and involved large quantities of cardboard. The folks at the National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest 2008 have clearly taken things to another level, and while the ingenuity is evident, the commitment to aesthetic excellence is what really makes this event a winner. Also the fake beards.

The sad thing is they didn't even mention how Theta Tau runs this event. At least we used to run the whole thing. My chapter had this rube challenge back in February it was fun.
He is a gnome man.
YES! I still have the game disc stashed under my desk, but I'm not sure that I still have a computer that will play nicely with such a classic game ... ah, I am glad that I am not the only one with fond memories of TIM :-)
The Incredible Machine rocked.
Download Virtual PC (assuming you're on a Windows machine or running Windows via Boot Camp/Parallels/whatever), find a copy of DOS and go to town. This post inspired me to haul out a bunch of old games. I'm amazed all these old floppies still work.
why in the hell is there no video? seeing them go is the best part!
The guy on the far left looks like the kid who made that lightsaber video of himself.
Well the idea was to make a machine that makes burgers, so that explains the nerdy guyses amounts of body fat..
And you can shut the crap up too, Chris.
So this is the broken comment system I've been hearing so much about!
Nice to hear your old floppy still works. I'm close to 60 and mine still works pretty well, thank you.
Boiler Up Purdue!
I was one of the 4 guys who was resetting the Purdue PSPE team machine, and winning that first place trophy felt amazing! And I just woke up from 17 hours of sleep since I didn't get to sleep at all the night before. Not too bad to winning first place at nationals 3 times out of the past 4 years.
nice hat
judging from the looks of it - those kids desperately want to eat that burger.
i think its a neat contest - maybe they would make good process engineers thats if they don't eat themselves to death.
He looks sketchy? He's just hungreh.
I live across the street from that competition and I've always been way too hungover to attend.
This guy gets ranked highest for quoting a TV show? So much for originality and independent thinking...
Please tell me I am not the only one who noticed the tin foil hat on the guy in the back. And is that a neck brace?
