AVIO iP-60E all-in-one projector features 4MP camera
Not enough room to fit a front projector, overhead projector, document camera, scanner and electronic whiteboard into that hole in the wall your district supervisor calls a classroom? Fret not, as the AVIO iP-60E is out to make the most of the measly square footage you are entitled to. This all-in-one-type projector features 3,500 lumens of brightness and a unique top which enables instructors to place objects on a glass platen and see them on-screen as if they were operating a typical overhead unit. Packed within is a 4-megapixel CCD sensor which can purportedly capture full-size documents and nearly anything else you want to lay up there for the audience to peek. Unfortunately, such a multifaceted piece of kit isn't exactly cheap, but we're pretty certain the principal's plastic can handle an extra $8,495 if necessary.[Via AboutProjectors]

Anonymoose @ Apr 8th 2008 10:17AM
tim, he forgot to add sexy. he wants to know if this projector makes popcorn sexy.
prototype @ Apr 8th 2008 10:21AM
i didnt know you could get sexy popcorn?
If you can then bring it on!
what i was saying is that this projector seems to do everything and thinking about what other useful things a projector could do a logical addition would be a popcorn maker!

good idea in theory....however, this isn't very practical for real-time showing of printed sheets...since the teacher/prof/presented would most likely be at the front of the room, at the furthest point AWAY from the projector...
Seems like that sort of money would be better spent on a high-end regular projector with lots of inputs, and use the excess money to buy a stand-alone webcam-based sheet projector-thingy (don't know the name for it!) that allows you to place anything you want on the table and have it projector through the regular projector, whilst allowing you to write and point on the sheet in real-time...This is what many lecture-theatres have at U of T and it's very versatile and useful.

As a former teacher, let me say this would have rocked in my classroom.
And, now that I am out of teaching and making decent money, I could conceivably afford it.

a "document camera" ftw :)

This would rock in a classroom. Too bad$$$
