Cool G108 watch phone is Maxwell Smart-approved
For the half dozen or so folks actively seeking a run-of-the-mill watch phone to completely destroy any chance of landing new pals (let alone a SO) while out on the town, you've got a surprising amount of choices. Still, you'd be hard-pressed to find one as gaudy, yet curiously sleek as the Cool G108. Boasting what appears to be an electroluminescent keypad (is that a rotary dial design we see?) and a convenient flip-up screen, this watch / cellphone mishmash also features quad-band GSM / GPRS support, a 1.5-inch (160 x 128) internal display, 1.3-megapixel camera, multimedia player, Bluetooth, 0.5MB (generous, we know) of built-in memory and a MMS expansion slot in case you need more than a single Duran Duran track on your wrist. You'll also find USB connectivity and a smallish external display, and while pricing remains a mystery, there's loads more pics waiting in the read link below.

looks like a motorola keypad imo (the laser cut design especially)
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 6:47PM
it's the ace of spades! the ace of spades!
Frankenstein Black @ Apr 8th 2008 7:58PM
Agree. Those Schmucks at Motorola should have released a watch phone like 5 years ago. Maybe a product line like this would have saved their sorry azzes. They (and that techless head honcho) are like "school in summer", NO CLASS!
Charadis @ Apr 8th 2008 8:18PM
haha Frankenstein, I like the Scrubs reference.
The "watch" looks a bit big. Just a bit big.
Gorillamonk @ Apr 9th 2008 3:26PM
I somehow feel that technology needs this to move forward, at a snails pace albeit
Thomas @ Apr 17th 2008 3:57PM
this is also called the "UFO" watch... it is only $249 here: http://www.chinagrabber.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1566

Watches don't need to be functional anymore. Everyone has the time on their cellphone. Rich people only use watches to accessorize and flaunt their bling.
Blite @ Apr 8th 2008 6:50PM
Poor people do so too :)
DarkLightConnection Unbanned @ Apr 8th 2008 6:58PM
Wrong. I need my watch to be functional. Sometimes I don't carry my cellphone with me, watch is always with me. Watch is much faster to look at than cellphone. I use the stopwatch and timer functios often, a phone will never be as practical as an actual watch. Heck, some phones don't even include these functions (or just stopwatch with no timer).

"a phone will never be as practical as an actual watch"
In the meantime, I have an 8Gb microSD card shoved into my Rolex, running Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, and voice activated dialing.
Oh it also comes with a bluetooth headset that will read me the time update from every 4 hours to every minute depending on the setting.
MikeG @ Apr 10th 2008 8:45PM
I never get my phone out to check the time or nowt like that. My watch is sexier, and easier to use.
Mikey @ Apr 8th 2008 11:01PM
My HTC kaiser doesn't have a 1/1000 second stopwatch, two timezones (at once), a second hand, functional timer, or a thermometer. Besides, if I pull out my phone at a meeting to read the date, I would get some funny looks...
BigD145 @ Apr 8th 2008 6:45PM
Where's the hole to stick my finger in?
--------------------
No, I don't want to hear any jokes except rotary phone ones.
patsy @ Apr 8th 2008 9:57PM
OK, let's try:
Where's the hole to stick my finger in? My rotary phone made my finger numb and I can't feel your *** anymore.
marty.com.au @ Apr 8th 2008 6:47PM
What better way to get your nerd on with a bit of nerd bling....
mkeough23 @ Apr 8th 2008 6:50PM
Battery life?????......Doesn't seem promising unless theres a solar panel somewhere on there I can't see
Lowest Ranked @ Apr 8th 2008 6:58PM
I hate to break it to you mkeough23, but it never seemed promising.
gian @ Apr 8th 2008 7:06PM
Never a better way to get your ass kicked for being a super nerd, either.
Blite @ Apr 8th 2008 6:49PM
I guess were now closer to making a Dick Tracy like wrist watch. Finally, my childhood dream can come true...all i need now is a laser gun, flying car, and robotic dog to complete my superhero ensemble.
Christian @ Apr 8th 2008 6:51PM
I kind of like it...
even though it has a very nostalgic feel of a women's compact or a birth control pill case
I like the geeky factor.
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 6:53PM
talk about misplaced nostalgia!
Lowest Ranked @ Apr 8th 2008 7:00PM
Wearing this watch IS birth control.

holycow @ Apr 8th 2008 6:53PM
Samsung cell phone UI anyone ?
Vexorg @ Apr 8th 2008 6:53PM
Didn't Maxwell Smart have his phone in his shoe?
lane @ Apr 8th 2008 7:00PM
This doubles (or shall I say triples) as a shoe also
Jhongerkong @ Apr 8th 2008 6:56PM
0.5mbs? A friggin floppy could hold more.
Lowest Ranked @ Apr 8th 2008 7:01PM
And a floppy disc (especially the older 5" ones) look a hell of a lot cooler strapped to your wrist than this does.
DarkLightConnection Unbanned @ Apr 8th 2008 7:02PM
A friggin floppy would feel a bit awkward on your wrist, tho..
Appzz @ Apr 8th 2008 7:04PM
My floppy can ;)
=D
Jhongerkong @ Apr 8th 2008 7:04PM
Cool kids wear floppies on their wrist and NES controllers on their belts.
Get with the trends man!
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 7:05PM
@darklight
that's what she didn't say
Benson @ Apr 8th 2008 8:21PM
Nah.. 8" floppies are where it's at.
marty.com.au @ Apr 8th 2008 7:17PM
That was frikin funny!
glucoseboy @ Apr 8th 2008 7:00PM
Where is the photo of this big-a@@ watch on someone's wrist?
Flipped through 5 pages, pffft, nothing.
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 7:06PM
EXTRA BIG ASS FRIES

zephead @ Apr 8th 2008 8:56PM

This http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11948 and http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10632 seem more practical and have better features supposedly.
DarkLightConnection Unbanned @ Apr 8th 2008 7:19PM
I kinda like the second one
However, I'd be a bit wary of shopping in a place that is a proud reseller of the 5-star rated iFone and has free EMS shipping for anything you buy with the HiPhone...
aron @ Apr 8th 2008 9:03PM
Dealextreme is actually a fairly reputable seller. I bought a flashlight from 'em, and when it didn't work, I just e-mailed them and they sent another for free (and i got to keep the old one!)
Jake @ Apr 8th 2008 11:01PM
nice avatar.
thats all..
spacegravity4me @ Apr 9th 2008 2:09AM

i also feel this gem from your posting history:

JJ Forde @ Apr 8th 2008 7:41PM
Regarding the title, maxwell smart's phone was in his shoe. This is more like Dick Tracy with his radio watch.
zed @ Apr 8th 2008 7:47PM
hey, i need way more than .5MB to store a Duran Duran song, 'course it's a 24 minute long remix of The Reflex....;)
David @ Apr 8th 2008 8:19PM
I like this alot. Looks cool. Finally, someone has come up with an all in one gadget that goes on the arm to replace a watch that I wear anyway. Whew. Thanks!! All of you who are posting negative comments are just responding (like sheeple do) to the OP's opinionated post which is quite negative. Get a brain yourself!
