I own a 2gb stick that's basically the same physical size and will be getting this. Why would you want one this small? Because, for me, its actually harder to lose. You see, I keep it in my wallet and I always have my wallet. Hence, I always have my thumb drive. My wallet has a flap for the driver license that folds down and covers the pocket that I put the thumb drive in, so when my wallet is in my pocket there is no way for the usb drive to fall out of it. And the thumb drive is so thin you can't tell its in the wallet. Normal sized thumb drives were always one more thing to keep in my pocket so I usually kept it in my bag. But I often find that I needed the drive for a chance IT support session in places where I don't carry my bag (seeing as that just goes with me to and from work and I often forget it for just that). Plus, I don't trust usb drives on key changes, etc so I like how something this small is protected by my wallet.
Following tyguy's comment, I have the 8GB Sony Pocket Mini Bit (outside of Japan called Micro Vault I think) drive, which is about this size, and sure enough, I always keep it in my wallet. It's definitely more convenient for me than a keychain would be, as it basically takes up no room at all. I'm typing this post off a Portable Firefox installation right now, actually.

Why would anyone need a USB drive that small?!

whatever??

I have a really small one like this to keep on my keyring. It's big enough as it is so having a micromini Sony is nice. 8gb would be much better.

Lawl @ Mark.
and why wouldn't you need a flash drive that small? Just think of the cool-factor for the first hour that you haven't accidentally swallowed it yet!

Yeah, I don't carry any of mine on my keychain because my pockets are packed enough. A really small one would be nice.

I'm sure I've seen a smaller black one somewhere. The part that sticks out of the computer is only like 4-5mm. Waay smaller that the above.
