David Dorman appointed as Motorola non-executive Chairman
We won't say that Motorola's on the up and up, but just after ridding itself of that pending litigation between it and Carl Icahn comes word that a fresh face will be succeeding Ed Zander as non-executive Chairman of the Board. David Dorman, former chairman and CEO of AT&T, has been selected by Moto's Board of Directors to take over Zander's chairman seat after he retires on May 5th. According to Greg Brown, president and CEO of the company, he feels that Dorman is "ideally suited to serve as Motorola's chairman," and he made known his excitement about working with Dave as it "moves forward with its plan to create two independent publicly traded companies and improve the performance of the Mobile Devices business." Good luck in there, Mr. Dorman.[Image courtesy of USA Today]

"My dog told me to kill Steve Jobs"
Maybe Mr. Dorman can show some of those overpaid, big-spending egomaniac execs the, uh, door.
what, so they can create a really thin door, place it on every doorway of the world and then keep pumping those out even when the rest of the world has moved on to open sourced doorways that still support firmer wares?
I don't need http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/09/led-dog-tail-communicator-gives-fido-a-voice/ to see that Fido is unimpressed.
Which is Dorman and which is the dog?
i believe the dog is combo 12 at panda express. dorman is like combo 17 or something.
Hmmm... how about this rumor(?) about takeover by Videocon

Doesn't look like Engadget picked up on it.
what is the meaning of non-executive?.
is to receive a big check every month for do nothing?.
non-exec means he's not an employee (i.e. CEO). A lot of times, companies combine CEO and Chairman of the board, making it an executive chairman (ala Zander).
Classic. All this bozo did at the old AT&T was watch it shrink and try to sell it to a Baby Bell.
Not an improvement.
Seriously... according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Dorman he was at the helm as PointCast, AT&T Broadband, and then old-world AT&T were driven into the ground. Great. Not exactly the kind of strong new leadership we were expecting.
But in his defence, he's probably only got this job 'cos he lost a bet.
If your home interior looks like this, how can you be responsible for the future of a high tech company?
good one! that was funny! :)
Don't you just love the corporate talk of "moving forward", wtf are they suppose to do? Stop and go backwards.... good luck but no choc chip cookies from me, Moto should die.
