Nintendo re-launching GameCube controller... in Japan
Wouldn't you know it? No, really -- didn't you completely understand that Nintendo wouldn't be releasing something as magnificent as a stark white GameCube controller in the States? Okay, so maybe NoA hasn't made that official, but we're betting the unit you see there on the right will be a (highly coveted) Japanese exclusive. Apparently the Big N is re-issuing a Wii-white GameCube controller in its homeland this month with an extended (3-meter) cord, and while we can't glean any pricing information from the crumb of information out there right now, go ahead and start stacking those pennies for use on your favorite importer.[Via Joystiq]
Update: Apparently it'll cost around $20. Thanks, Chebwa!

Lol, yes someone took a wavebird and 'shopped the wiimote into it.
I hope the controller are still the same .. haha
I refuse to buy any first party Gamecube controller until they bring back the wavebird.
I'm glad the cord is longer.
NES controllers had long cords... until they did away with them entirely for Wii, the cord got progressively shorter, despite televisions getting larger and people, theoretically, sitting farther away from them.
Three meters makes it longer than the NES cord.
I don't like cords because even in my small living room with original gamecube controllers the Wii gets knocked around. I'm with others that they should release the wavebirds and update the wireless dongle to match the Wii even better than before. The mad catz don't cut it. The dongle flops around on top and makes the system top heavy... and looks bad.
I managed to find a Brand New In Packaging Wavebird at a GameStop about 25 miles from me. Needless to say, 25 miles and about $37 later I was the proud owner of a new WaveBird. I also bought a third party rechargeable battery pack for it from my work and it looks awesome.
Any chance that this would plug into the Wiimote instead of the Wii? Why even bother releasing a "new" GC controller with a longer wire? Bring on the white wavebird-that-plugs-into-the-Wiimote!
Why not make a white Wavebird? I'd probably kill for one.
I assume this is for Brawl?
I know it's never going to happen, but I'd pay like 60 euro for a new revised wavebird in the original GC controller(not original wavebird) size and with rumble.
On top of that, it would be sweet sugary goodness charlie charlie candy mountainy good if it were to have this color scheme:

Also, it should be bluetooth, so it could connect to the gamecube with a dongle and to the wii just like the wiimote.
I would buy 4, maybe even a fifth one as a backup.
Ewww man, white GC controller? Pfft, it's gonna be exactly like the white Nintendo DS, meaning after awhile it's going to slowly get darker and darker with stains from your hands. Lol, imagine on Amazon / Ebay, "Selling USED White - er.... brownish GameCube controller".
