AgfaPhoto's DV-5000Z SDHC camcorder shoots 720p
Though not nearly as sexy (or well-spec'd, for that matter) as Sony's recently-unveiled HDR-TG1, AgfaPhoto's DV-5000Z still manages to hold its own on paper. Measuring in at 4.7- x 2.75-inches (12- x 7-centimeters) and weighing just over 7-ounces (200-grams), this HD camcorder features a 5-megapixel Micron CMOS sensor, 2.5-inch flip-out LCD, 3x optical zoom and an SD / SDHC slot to store everything on. As for shooting capabilities, it'll capture clips at 1,280 x 720 (using H.264 compression) and snag 16-bit stereo sound all the while. You'll also find USB connectivity, a rechargeable Li-ion and video out, natch. Unfortunately, there's no mention of this €249 ($393) device ever coming Stateside, but it'll be ready to roll in Russia later this month.

"I shot the 720P, but I didn't shoot the 1080i."
wooo ooo OOOOOOO!!!
Nice
I don't give a crap about the camera, but wow, look at these fancy new digs you got here Engadget! Super fancy!
This redesign is straining my eyes...
P.S: This camera is pretty decent actually. You can use this as a backup cam.
Thanks for the metric measurements, engadget. Not all us Americans are idiots who use AS. I appreciate that.
...unless you're american and use AS, in which case...
_Loving_ the new layout, engadget! You in the mood for some post edits yet?
So using our countries own measurement system makes a person an idiot? By that logic speaking English should also make you an idiot.
Oh well no matter - wont be long before we all have to know Spanish to communicate in the US.
jason, please let me know where zipcode 51873 is so i never accidentally visit there
phanbouy, I think its somewhere near May 18th, 1973.
If you don't like Spanish stay out of Southern California. There are more aliens here than at Area 51.
Ummm try any US / Mexico border town?
...Spanish is great because you never have to wonder how to spell anything, but the verb conjugation is a killer. I took four years of it, but I've kinda let it get rusty. I can't really speak or listen to it, but I don't have any problem with spanish web pages...
Once I learn lojban, I think there are some modifications I'd want to make, but all in all, it's already the most elegant language in existence.
Why is this camera even "NEWS" on Engadget? I mean these small 720p cameras have been out for a long time. This one is $393!!!??? You can get the same thing for a lot less http://www.aiptek.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=R-AHDB&Store_Code=AS
I have to agree, the aiptek's get no love here. They've had a 720p cam like this since last summer and for half the price. The video they take is pretty good for such a low end camera and looks great although 720p really isn't doing you any favors if you don't really know what your doing to take good shots because it's way too many pixels and shows way to much detail. Makes you appreciate what good cameramen actually do.
The Kodak Z812IS camera shoots 720P video, has a 12X zoom, is 8.1 MP, costs a little over $200 and shoots still pictures as well.
You can also buy it in the U.S.
I vote GIVEAWAY.
Sheesh!!! Totally copy the Sanyo Xacti design much???
"AGFA" LOL...go back to 110 Instamatics.
D.
Is that Erica Durance in the picture?
