Engadget gets a new look and adds Switched to the family!

Our latest addition, Switched will be dishing out features for those with a more casual interest in tech, as well as highlighting fresh, hand-picked tech news from our network of sister sites. So expect to see hot stories from Engadget classic, Mobile, HD, TUAW, and Download Squad running over there, as well as news from other geeky Weblogs, Inc. sites like Joystiq, Xbox 360 Fanboy, and Wii Fanboy.
As for Engadget's new design, we went through and really cleaned up the joint, yanking out old modules and ads wherever possible. You might spot our new and improved photo gallery browsing and updated looks on things like comments and polls, but it's hardest to miss the new rotating carousel over on the right. Keep an eye on that thing, it's where we'll be plugging in our biggest stories and must-see features.
Of course, launching eight sites at the same time is bound to cause a few problems, so please tap that first adopter attitude and bear with us as we squish bugs and tweak styles. And definitely hit us up in comments to let us know what you think (or if you see anything wonky)!
P.S. -Big ups to the gang that worked tirelessly to make this happen: Matt, Mark, Erik, Gavin, Celly, Alex, Christoph, Charlie, Marty, and the rest of the crew!

surprise, surprise - now I can read it without zooming font size one level up.
Thanks!
Nice job all around. Performs better and looks great.
I don't like it.
Why is the RSS feed so much shorter? I like having a long RSS feed with all the day's news.
For me the text feels a little too small, like everything got scaled down to make for open space. Also bring back the Breaking News / Featured Stories IMAGES!! That's always the first place I look, and having images next to the pertaining story makes for greater usability IMHO.
I really like the new layout!
Now if we could just have the ability to edit our own comments! And SOON!
Keep up the great work :)
it'x looks clean...
Can I opt out of this new version?
The page looks like a spoof-
in a less than best way.
Site looks pretty decent, however the title text for an article needs to be taken down a fair amount. It's not just a little too large, it's waaaaaay too large.
There are no distinct lines seperating posts, ads, menus, etc.
It just looks like a white page with text all over it
I like it. The pages seem more fluid than before. The refresh rate has also improved.
I like...very very cool!
Beautiful new layout! I really believe you guys did a lot of home work putting this together.
New layouts generally suck. But, I must say Engadget has something great here.
Love the fonts, colors, sizes. Text is nicely laid out and optimized on my widescreen laptop. The pastel shades of colors and balance between bold and non-bold text is perfect.
Feels like I am scrolling through butter!
Keep up the great work Engadget!!
I'm trying to figure out what I hate about this design and I think I finally figured it out. It's the text: it looks haphazard. Fix that, and you're onto something. Again, refinement.
The css on this site is utter rubbish - floats all wrong, especially the ranking buttons.
Also, the screen jumps around all over the place when you hover, thanks to the 1980's style mouseover effects.
SORT IT OUT....!!
Matt, Mark, Erik, Gavin, Celly, Alex, Christoph, Charlie, Marty, and the rest of the crew.... SORT OUT YOUR CSS...!!
Beautiful new layout! I really believe you guys did a lot of home work putting this together.
YOU ARE JOKING
This new layout is rubbish. A 2 year old could do better... the page moves around when I mouse through it, and the css is all wrong, not to mention the H-U-G-E text size.
Wow. What a giant leap backwards. At first I thought I had somehow changed the default font size in my browser. Was this design not user tested at all. It is funny that technology keeps moving forward at a lightning pace while the quality of design keeps decreasing. Bad move engadget.
Switched? Not so sure...seems like sell-out blog for Tech...kind of like Local TV news "Tech Guy" fluff
The Newer Posts/Older Posts buttons at the bottom of the page are hard to find. The buttons need a thicker border or a different color background.
the light blue on a white background is hard to read for some of us out here (column on the right).
The links inside the blue bar at the top of the page on the right side are hard to read.
Maybe you could have some consideration for people with problems with their vision.
How can I turn off that slide show thing at the top of the right column?
What happened to being able to order search results "by date" and not only get them "by relevance"? in the old format I used to be able to do that, now with the new format that ability is gone... please give it back!!! Also you should include that feature on the tags.
