Don't know about ya'll, but our eyes tend to glaze over with apathy as soon as we see "desktop replacement" in a laptop press release. Nevertheless, here's LG's take on the semi-portable: the 17-inch X-R700 and 19-inch X-S900. They're big -- much bigger than the average mini-skirt found on Korean product waifs. The ₩1,699,000 (about $1,744) Model X-R700 XP50K sports a WXGA display with integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, 3GB of memory, 512MB of nVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics and a 1.83GHz T5550 Core 2 Duo pumping away under the hood. The ₩1,390,000 (about $1,436) X-S900 KP55K model packs the same 1,366 x 768 resolution and processor but slaps in 256MB of ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400 graphics, 2GB of memory, and bumps the disk from 250GB to 320GB spinning at 7,200rpm (thanks
Fujitsu). While the laptops are a bit meh, at least you'll notice how much bigger the images are on the
new and improved Engadget layout.

j_g_puff @ Apr 10th 2008 5:20AM
They're not as big as my nob.
Gorillamonk @ Apr 10th 2008 9:09AM
it's only big in comparison to a little korean woman.
klew @ Apr 10th 2008 3:43AM
That's some mighty fine contrast to be that visible in daylight.
Ghen @ Apr 10th 2008 11:04AM
photoshopped the glare out more likely.
Jomark Osabel @ Apr 10th 2008 3:46AM
Yes, I like the new layout. The models are now clearer than the previous design. What I mean with models are the gadgets.
Eh @ Apr 10th 2008 3:49AM
It would take a lot of bounties to pay off that much woolong
雙魚 @ Apr 10th 2008 3:49AM

TeddyLikesComputahs! @ Apr 10th 2008 4:31AM
everytime i see a laptop on the front page, i think it's an announcement of the 2nd gen eee pc coming out today! if it's not the announcement, i feel like engadget is teasing me.
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Apr 10th 2008 10:25AM

Patriks7 @ Apr 10th 2008 4:53AM

Corrected TITLE:
LG's X-R700 and X-S900 replace desktops, double as paperweights for "ANOREXIC" product models.
cmc @ Apr 10th 2008 5:50AM
Anorexic? Are we looking at the same picture?
I would break her in half by the way.
cmc @ Apr 10th 2008 5:45AM
I'm guessing that she isn't made of paper so "paperweight" is a misnomer.
Frederik @ Apr 10th 2008 6:35AM
Could somebody tell me since when selling portables feels more like reading a car magazine?
linuxamp @ Apr 10th 2008 7:03AM
I know LG is Korean but she looks more Chinese to me for some reason. Also, those denims are way too short to be a skirt, probably daisy dukes. Oh and nice laptops too
Big Al @ Apr 10th 2008 11:59AM
Actually, miniskirts are that short in Korea. I've even seen girls wear them during Winter.
gopha @ Apr 10th 2008 7:07AM
What laptops? ....
x3qt0r @ Apr 10th 2008 7:16AM
LEGS....
skeptical @ Apr 10th 2008 10:36AM
legs...
sure, if you like cellulite...if you're that into legs, at least pick good ones
Ghen @ Apr 10th 2008 11:06AM
she's not fat, she's plus sized.. Which means greater than a size zero but less than 100% of americans.
Arnie @ Apr 10th 2008 7:53AM
No One and certainly not any pretty ladies should hold such large laptops on their bear thighs, these things can get pretty pretty hot esp in the sun like that!!
john @ Apr 10th 2008 8:58AM
YuCK! Vista!
PS3guy @ Apr 10th 2008 9:14AM
Forget the Laptop I'll take the girl lol
technophobe @ Apr 10th 2008 9:30AM

...I'm sorry, I'll get my coat
initialxy @ Apr 10th 2008 9:31AM
meh... i like the sumsung chick better
wrabbit @ Apr 10th 2008 10:10AM
Ahhh, I missed those lcd/laptop/pc press shots with hot models in them (haven't seen a good one in a while), I hope the trend is coming back for good this time ;)
Ghen @ Apr 10th 2008 11:07AM
Sex has never stopped selling, its just that jan-march is a bad time for releasing a new product (and therefore hiring a model for people to ogle)
Gaz @ Apr 10th 2008 11:07AM
I would prefer hot guys holding my laptops being gay and all :-)
fred @ Apr 10th 2008 11:15AM
real story? lg is too cheap to hire a real model, shes probably just a random worker they grabbed.
Xan @ Apr 10th 2008 12:58PM
Thats a lie! she must be PROFESSIONAL model..... and if she is 'just some random person' who cares!
mb67 @ Apr 10th 2008 12:36PM
It's humorous to me that there is more comments about the Korean Model (Yes she's Korean) than the actual laptops. :p
By the way, I'll take the girl. :D
