The all black handset is set to be sold with or without navigation software and feature quad-band GSM support, GPRS / EDGE connectivity, a 416MHz Marvell PXA270 processor, 64MB of RAM, a 3.2-inch QVGA display, 2-megapixel camera and a microSD expansion slot. Furthermore, you'll find a SiRFStar III GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi, FM tuner and a rechargeable Li-ion, natch. Better get set to break open the piggy bank, as this one will demand €424 ($671) for French maps, €478 for coverage of Europe as a whole or €399 ($631) without pre-installed routing software.

mogul w/latest rom has GPS built in (sirf III), EVDO rev.A and a Qwerty keypad. With a SERO plan, you can have it on a plan that's $30/month voice + data
And people still complain that the iPhone's expensive. At least google doesn't charge extra for the maps.
On the iPod touch, it does, lol, I still love my touch though. Sadly, it will be my last iPod, as my next PMP will definitely be a Zune.
Google doesn't charge anything on the iPod touch either. And just out of curiosity, if you love your touch so much, why go to the Zune? Its not as if its any more open or useful than an iPod, especially a touch.
The iPhone does not have a proper GPS receiver, so that adds cost right there. Also if you want to buy it without maps and just use Google Maps, you are free to do so, but you will miss out on turn by turn voice directions, just like on the iPhone.
If you want a full function device, unlocked, you have to pay for it. Isnt the unlocked iPhone €750 euros in France?
Yeah and I can use Google Maps Mobile with my free-with-2-year contract phone also.
How are you going to use GMM if you don't have cell signal?

"Overpriced" is a relative term and a matter of opinion. If they can sell it for the price they're asking and make the profit that they are looking for, then it's not "overpriced".
But I'll agree that it is "overpriced" in my opinion and I would not buy it at the price they are asking.

Yes. They can ask whatever price they want and the consumer can pay it or not. That's the way it works. That doesn't make it "fair", it's just a matter of capitalism.
The value of anything is all in what people perceive it to be. Even diamonds would be worthless if the consumer didn't want them.
The only reason I bring it up is because there seems to be a tendency to throw the term "overpriced" around a bit too much. Like I said, it's a matter of opinion and again, I agree that in my opinion this product is overpriced. But if they can sell it at that price and make a profit, my opinion isn't really worth much.

Exactly. I mean, whatever they can get, they'll get. As long as the price supports the cost of manufacture and they can make a profit the product will do fine. Problems only come in when they can't get a price for the product to support the cost and profit margin. I hate to bring up... Apple, because I know what a can of worms that is on this forum but it's a perfect example. People love to say that Apple products are overpriced. But Apple seems to be doing well as a whole, so any opinion that their products are overpriced is of little consequence.
