Sony BRAVIA XBR 2008 roadmap leaked
Good news for the pixel-starved: Boy Genius got a hold of a Sony's 2008 BRAVIA roadmap, which includes word of new XBR6, XBR7 and XBR8 LCD displays. We caught wind of the new XBR6 line at CES, along with the KDL-40Z4100 and the KDL-46Z4100, but apparently things are going to get much more interesting in August when the KDL-46XBR8 drops. New features include "Triluminos" RGB LED backlight, Advanced Contrast Enhancer PRO and BRAVIA Engine 2 PRO 1080p video processor. The XBR7 panels measure as large as 70-inches, and will launch in October, but sport features more in line with the XBR6. Everything is naturally 1080p and 120Hz.
Update: We just got ourselves sent a UK version of this roadmap. It's after the break.

On the plus side, it means a whole year of non-obsolescence!

Bring back the rear projection XBRs - best bang for your buck!
Let's see 70" RP XBR - $3,000 - 70" LED XBR - $30,000. I'm willing to trade 18" of my floor space for $27,000.

I don't think LED XBR means its thin... It's just led backlit... not uber thin like the OLED model... plus they only have the 11 or 27 inch model in OLED jumping to 70" that'd be impressive... :)

i just wonder what the price point will be on 55in xbr 8. I am debating between it the 60in kuro elite. or the 65 in se94 eddition sharp.

Yay, my 46X3500 is now obsolete.

I really want the 46in XBR8 since it has both LED and 120hz refresh, but I really don't want to know the price of it.

I hate that effect the 120 hz tv does on hd movies. It screws up the frame rate. I'd rather just go with a Kuro. Plasma FTW!
