Nintendo confirms: May-bound Wii Fit priced at $89.99
Nothing like a little reassurance on tax day, right? We already knew that GameStop was gearing up to offer Nintendo's Wii Fit for $89.99, but now the Big N has stepped in to affirm said price point. Beginning on May 19th here in the US, Wii Fit, along with the bundled Wii Balance Board, will be sold together for a penny under $90. And for those located near New York City, you can score a sweat rag, er, Wii Fit t-shirt if you're one of the first 1,000 to lay down a $5 deposit at the Nintendo World store between April 18 - 20. Bonus points if you run there, we swear.

Another useless piece of plastic brought to you by the geniuses at Nintendo. I already see this being as effective as all those workout videos and gadgets they show on tv everyday.

"Another useless piece of plastic brought to you by the geniuses at Nintendo." - Rob
Another useless comment brought to you by the geniuses who still cling to the belief that the Wii is a joke and a flop.
Keep hating, haters. This console generation belongs to Nintendo.

Well, don't let this guy know that it's a worthless piece of plastic....
http://www.4colorrebellion.com/archives/2008/04/01/the-great-experiment-wii-fit-week-7/
...he's actually deceived himself into believing that WiiFit has helped him lose 10 lbs. in 7 weeks...
Ray @ Apr 15th 2008 12:59PM
People will hack it so you can get around without walking or something... Or play Brawl with it.
LongshotX @ Apr 15th 2008 1:13PM
First I'd like to say this new layout is too white.
Secondly, this is another useless piece of plastic for the overrated, and over hyped Wii which we already know is capable of printing money. This is another fad to get lazy gluttons up and running for a month and then its back to the buffets, biscuits, and booze.
Ray @ Apr 15th 2008 1:14PM
Fan of the PS3, are we, "Longshot"?
Rob @ Apr 15th 2008 1:16PM
@ Quix:
I don't hate the Wii. I don't particularly care for it. But, that does not mean hate for it. It's called criticism. Anyway, if you think that Nintendo selling you a wheel for $15 that is nothing more than plain rubber is a good deal, then you're their perfect customer. Then they come out with a plastic tablet that they want to sell it to you for almost $90, you think it's great, then again, you're their perfect customer. My point is that companies come out with worthless/useless proprietary junk all the time. And, they're counting on blind followers like yourself to buy them.
My comparison was to the hundreds of similar useless gadgets, and videos, they try to sell you on tv everyday "so you can lose weight." People buy and use them for a week or two, and that's it. Those things just sit around collecting dust. Same thing with this Wii tablet thing. The Wii, just like the PS3 and 360, has its good and bad points. If one is not allowed to criticize something because automatically you're labeled "hater" or "fanboy", then we're fucked.

you can have all the excersize equipment in the world for free
If you don't have the stanima and willpower to go and excerise nothing you do buy or even say will help you loose weight. period
LongshotX @ Apr 15th 2008 1:53PM
Actually I'm a fan of value, technology and games not fads and mini-game cash ins. Wii's are good money makers but the xbox 360 is were the games are at.
Ray @ Apr 15th 2008 2:00PM
I don't have anything against 360, I want one but I don't have any money. I was going to get one if I couldn't find any Wiis around my town. If Wii is gimmicky and a fad, why is Microsoft making their own wiimote?
Quix @ Apr 15th 2008 2:28PM
"Anyway, if you think that Nintendo selling you a wheel for $15 that is nothing more than plain rubber is a good deal, then you're their perfect customer."
Nice try Rob, but comparing the Wii Fit with an admittedly worthless plastic accessory like a plastic steering wheel to snap your Wiimote into is silly. Apples and oranges. Obviously.
The Wii Fit will sell, will probably sell big, and we'll likely see Microsoft come out with their own line of fitness accessories for the Xbox. Nintendo is blazing the trail, the haters mock and deride, then begrudgingly follow.
Sidenote: my brother just had the RROD on his 2nd Xbox 360. Talk about useless pieces of plastic.

I confirm that 90 bucks plus tax is too expensive... especially with our weak American dollar. I feel we've been Bushwhacked and I use my words carefully.
patriotsn1 @ Apr 15th 2008 3:07PM
Well if YOU confirm it, it must be true for everyone!... prehaps you meant concur...
miko34 @ Apr 15th 2008 3:12PM
Um ... no. I did mean "confirm" ... given the fact that the headline in the article was "Nintendo confirms," I was using their verbiage. I wasn't trying to be Mr. Grammar.

$90 for a rectangular piece of plastic that lets you play Penguin-Eats-Fish (actual Wii Fit game) and Bubble on a River (actual Wii Fit game) oh man, I'm canceling my order of GTA IV and MGS4. Next week I'm going to get a Tattoo on my junk that says Nintendo. can't be a virgin forever. . . then again I dont want it to get torn off played with for a week and then left in the corner to collect dust and be forgotten.
JC @ Apr 15th 2008 1:24PM
So glad you finally found a use for your PS3 since you bought it two years ago, and have been playing through CoD4 a hundred times since then.
I'll just go back in my corner and try to decide which of the very fun 20 games I want to play on my Wii.
Gaucho @ Apr 15th 2008 1:41PM
I actually like my PS3 library, but your right, I do spend a lot of time on CoD4, hopefully it will be ported to the Wii so you can get to play it and take a break from the 20 games you already enjoy on it. BTW, don't be a fanboy, I have a Wii, I'm not trying to flame, I was first in line @ midnight here in Manhattan to get Brawl (thats a feat). In any case all I'm saying is this $90 board is kinda bs.
JC @ Apr 15th 2008 2:30PM
Your post came across as a fanboy post, only because a number of my co-workers make the similar comments.
Them: Oh man, you HAVE to see CoD4 on the PS3, it's amazing! The graphics are so much better than the Wii.
Me: So how many other games do you have?
Them: Only 2, but just wait until MGS4 comes out! Oh, and BlueRay movies look amazing!
You get the point. The way I see it, even if this $90 piece of plastic gets couch potatoes to do even a bit of exercise, it'll still be more than they've been doing all this time.
Gaucho @ Apr 15th 2008 3:18PM
nah, never intended it to come across as fanboy. I just dont like this board thing, just my opinion. your co-workers don't sound like gamers, they sound like graphics whores. I have every current system and handheld except the 360 because knowing me if I ever got the RRD I'd flip out and take a bat to it, and thats not fanboyism, thats me possibly needing anger management.(though I have been wanting to play Mass Effect).
alpha @ Apr 15th 2008 1:27PM
I won't buy it although I do have high hopes on it. I think $70 should be a fairer price. Maybe the declining dollar is really hurting us here.
01 @ Apr 15th 2008 4:29PM
you think?
Rich @ Apr 15th 2008 1:35PM
Yay, us Brits get to pay $140! Boned again.
LongshotX @ Apr 15th 2008 2:53PM
Why don't you guys make your own console and stop complaining?
Rich @ Apr 16th 2008 5:53AM
We did. It was the ZX81. It was awesome (though technically a computer).
Phanatic @ Apr 15th 2008 1:44PM
Why are people hating the price of this? Nobodhy seems to mind dropping $100 on Guitar Hero III - a game and a peripheral. Why is $90 all of a sudden too expensive for a game and a peripheral? A "game" that may have potential health benefits. As Rich said above, we're getting off cheap in the US compared to other countries.
Danny @ Apr 15th 2008 1:58PM
In Guitar Hero, you get to rock your face off. This is clearly worth the money. However, I can run around in circles for free!
Phanatic @ Apr 15th 2008 2:01PM
And I can play air guitar to the radio for free. Your point?
ridgecity @ Apr 15th 2008 2:21PM
Because nerds think they are rock stars and actually think thay can rock because they can follow a sequence of colors on the screen.
Guitar Hero has a lot more in common with the electronic game from the 80's SIMON, than with Keith Richards.
01 @ Apr 15th 2008 4:32PM
@ Danny - Yup, you can rock your face off...and that's it. The board is going to support more than Wii fit, and I would imagine there will be some pretty fantastic (and craptastic) reimplementation of it in games over the next year(s).
Poopypants @ Apr 15th 2008 1:48PM

I've heard the name but never actually knew what it was.
patriotsn1 @ Apr 15th 2008 2:29PM
Just wait till Tony Hawk is made to use this board as a controller, gonna be sic.
gnat824 @ Apr 15th 2008 3:42PM
Staying fit is 90% about motivation- if Wii fit makes exercise interesting enough to provide that motivation, then what's the problem? If jogging were the only way to stay in shape, then there wouldn't be gyms, treadmills, boflex, and any number of other things that people spend money on. What I can't understand is all of you complaining about other people wasting their money on supposedly overpriced Wii products...how many of you own iPhones or have expensive rims on your cars?
Ryan @ Apr 15th 2008 4:00PM
Oh please...that stupid rock star and guitar hero games are WAY more expensive then the Wii Fit. Whatever im not surprised that a bunch of fat nerds who sit in one place all day don't like a peripheral that actually makes you stand up and play a game. My friend is exactly like you losers...does nothing but complain about video games this and video games that instead of being grateful for what he has. It makes me sick.
Oh yea and the Nintendo Powerpad...how funny is it that you nerds hate on that but when Dance Dance Revolution came out you were all playing it cause it was "soooo kool". Nintendo is the leader when it comes to innovation in games and the way we interact with them. You can thank them for the rumble pads in your controllers, your dance dance pads, and your guns that you play random shooters with.
